Guest guest
Namah Shivaya Nirmala, This one is to help you get LIGHTER. . Nov 2000, San Rafael: I wanted to ask Amma a q, so I got a chance in the line. I am a Mallu but I don't speak it well at all although I understand it perfectly, so I had it written in English and was ready to get it translated. She saw me, pushed the interpreter away and basically told me to speak in Malayalam. I told her I was not good at it, but She gently and lovingly told me to try; She said She will understand what I say. Then She did small talk with for 2 mins before we got around to the question. Magnificient time! Washington DC July 2001: During darshan, I had to talk to Her again...this time, with (mis) placed confidence, I started speaking to her in Malayalam, about the same problem that I had spoken of earlier. There, in front of 50 people, She blasted me and said "This guy's Malayalam is so horrible; I can't understand if he is speaking Malayalam or Tamil or Hindi!" July 2004, Chicago: Devi Bhava darshan, Amma talked to me a bit. But she was talking to me in Tamil. Actually, She has been doing this for a few darshans now even though she knew I am a mallu, but I was too shy/afraid to point it out to her. But this time, I asked her why she spoke to me in Tamil when she knew i was a mallu? My (unspoken) point was that atleast I can understand Malayalam even if i don't speak it that well, but with tamil, there was every chance that i would not even understand what she said. Her answer "Well, your Malayalam is so horrible that I am left with no recourse but to speak to you in Tamil!" Jai Ma!
