I thought the Indian new year begins with Diwali in October or November.. but then I heard of a "Tamil New Year" (Vishu?) on April 14. And on another calendar, the Hindu new year begins with the start of the spring Navratri in March! And what year is it anyway? In one calendar (the Vikrama era), the Y2K bug would have happened in 1943, as this calendar is 57 years ahead of the A.D. year.
