Guest guest
Hello all. I've known Amma for 7 years but only in the last 2 have I received my mantra and *started* to surrender to Her (what can I say, I'm stubborn!). It's a long story, like all of ours... Anyway, I have dreamt several times, of the words "Mahalakshmi". Once, in my dream, I had thrown myself into her lap, crying that I felt so lost in this world and needed her guidance. She told me to "take a red Lakshmi". Recently those words "Mahalaksmi" appeared again in my dream, written on a wall, with a heart encircling them. Now I know this is a quite obvious instruction. The question is, what mantra or puja should I perform? Can I take this as instruction? I only see her once a year, for a week at the most. Is this a question I could actually email her about? The concept of even asking her a question directly is almost overwhelming to me. I look forward to your suggestions. frang.
Guest guest
Namaste Frang, I myself had a very powerful vision of Lakshmi about four years ago. It is a definite boon for you that you are having these dreams. Do you conduct regular pujas now? Here are a couple of things that were suggested to me that are very simple, but good ways to connect to Her: * You can chant "Om Sri Lakshmiyi Namahah" in front of a picture of small statue of Lakshmi and offer flowers and/or incense. Lakshmi likes pinks and reds. * Do not take nonveg food on Fridays and Tuesdays, if you are not a vegetarian. Please feel free to email me privately, if you would like to. Jai Ma! Guest guest
Hi, Thanks for that Niseema. Thinking it's a boon is a different way of looking at it. It's weird because in the material world I am constantly broke and feeling a lack of career direction and have been constantly praying for guidance. I don't wish for material wealth in itself, I just pray for the means, financial and otherwise, to serve in the world as best as Mother sees fit. ( I think I've spent a number of lifetimes being a monk, and as attractive as that is to me now, I know it's not my path this life!) I don't really do regular pujas but do have a *fairly* regular hatha yoga, meditation and japa practice. Consistency is not one of my strong suits. I am trying to develop that. Perhaps a regular Lakshmi puja is in order? I have the puja book but have little experience with doing puja on my own. frangi. Guest guest
Frangi888: Since the instruction was very specific as to getting a "red Laxmi", you may want to look into that somewhat assiduously; there are 108 forms of Laxmi(eg Paradeshwari when Laxmi is worshipped in the form of Parad, mercury) that are generally propitiated, perhaps there is at least one form that is somehow associated with the colour red; an obvious place to start is to look at the Laxmi Ashtottaraa(108) and Sahasranama(1008) to see if there is some mention of red. Since it looks like you had several dream instructions on Mahalaxmi, you may want to aggressively pursue some Laxmi sadhana - this is a great blessing to receive such advice from Mother in a dream; and the fact that you have good recall of the dream suggests that this was indeed a dream message and no ordinary dream(BTW what were you feelings when you had the dream, did you feel thrilled or did you awake soon after the dream; what was the time of the dream?). Consistency is key to progress in my opinion; NO progess is made without consistency, so that is something you will really have to work on. Guest guest
Thanks for your reply, yogaman! I wondered if there were actually 108 names of Laskhmi- I have the 108 names of Devi but i am assuming they are not the same thing? I'm not sure what time I had the dream, but I am sure that I woke just after having it and wrote it down immediately. (I've been doing a lot of work with dreams these past two years). When I woke up it was clear it was no dream but happened on a different plane. I actually had darshan with her in this dream in an airport lounge somewhere! I was actually quite upset in the dream and felt very soothed and relieved and being "looked after" when I woke up. So I take it seriously as an instruction. And yes, consistency is the hardest thing for me. I agree with you that it is key to real progress. Something about being afraid of being "trapped" into something is what scares me away often. Does that make sense? I don't feel I'm lacking in discipline or devotion but to keep it going at a steady pace is the biggest challenge! This applies to all aspects of my life, to be honest. So I am asking her for help. And thankyou for yours! frangi. Guest guest
this morning when my friend called and told me about the hurrican/flood in Tampa, I immediately recalled a dream I had last night- that i had a new place to live in an upper story of a five or six story building. Later while drivng behind it, I noticed there was construction being done on the back of it and thought, oh maybe ill have even more space. then i noticed that it was right next to he ocean and that the tide was rising and already had flooded the cars parked there and would very soon flood the house. i thought i cant live there...but i may have already signed for it- it was strange interesting that i dreamed this last night...now people are realistically dealing with this right now... om lokah samastah sukhino bhavanthu
Guest guest
Frangi: Yes there is a separate 108 and 1008 chant for Laxmi; check out Shreemaa's collection of pooja books, I have seen them include a lot of different sahasranamas and may have something for Laxmi and a bonus is that it also includes translation. Being dream conscious is a very valuable skill these days with Amma; what with the crowds swelling up so much, there is not much opportunity for a one on one with Amma; but in a dream you can spent as much time as you want:-). -yogaman
