Guest guest
hmmm .. << sadhana at night >> intesting qn. what so great about morning right ? , frankly speaking I don't know .. ha ha!!! . For you and me it may not matter , but about beginners ?? . we all debate each other based on the "information" and it's derivatives which we get from here and there ?. anyway becaues of the time constraints ( working hours 2 PM - 12 AM+ , reach home by 1-2 AM ) , Now I cannot think of doing sadhana even at 8 O'clock. Just sharing again what I have read/heard. wanna to know my meditative experiences .. 1) In the college , i had a habit of just watching th leaves of coconut tree while lying down on the bed , just for fun . when I don't have anything to do. Once I had very good experience .. ( heyy.. no debate about lying down vs sitting down pls .. hey heyy .. just pulling the leg .. lol ) 2) In a barber shop , while sitting there mediatatively in an aromatic atmosphere . 3) When a took a tablet for fever and headache , few yaers back .. that day was a semi enlightened day .. It was not a experience .. but a kind of blissful state that I realised that I AM THAT .. I KNOW THAT .. looks strange right ?.. but all dispeared after a sleep .. ngiaaaa .... Why morning preferred -- Food is fully digested ( meditation should NOT be done when the stomach is full, food will not be digested ) A lot of changes in the nature ( I don't have full details about this ) Certain glands in the body gets activated during that time ( Read in a journal with scientific explanations, an year back ) which supports meditation. for typically "married" house holder , the above is preferred, as this not going to affect their relationship with spouce. Why night Preferred ------------------------------ No worry about time limitations(No more office time? tension .. lol , a window of 8-10 hrs are there for you .. this period is more than enough for the happening ..) Nobody to trouble in night , even the pets .. Darkness and silence around in general is good to get centred. hence high possibility of jumping into meditative state. For many of the saints awakening happened in the night !!!. and for many of them it happened outside the house , while having more natural exposure.. People who want to attain "abnormal states" (lol) .. yep .. night is the best , but with very empty stomach .. and friday night is the best you are getting a 60 hrs time frame , just for you, for your own inner blossoming. these are minor things. your commitment & enthusiasm is the key . As and when the sadhak progress every movement will be meditative with 100% awareness , The whole 24 hrs will be a sadhana for him. << There seems to be a tendency on this list to recommend ritualistic practices >> To get enlightened, infact you don't need to do anything, ask this question to saints they will agree with that . Few will laugh at you saying "effort for enlightenment .. hahaha , you have drop all your efforts as you need to reach to a state of no mind, else the very effort will be the obstacle ". but how many people can digest that single statement . If you can be in a state of thoughtless awareness it can take you there . But to reach to that state it is not a cup of tea. hence masters started with rituals , symbols , values , practices and all . Believe me every ritual has got it's own impact . Either in our own system or to the space around. There are a lot of unknown misteries around us. All cannot be passed as information .as and when you progress you will start getting a lot of intuional knowldge too. as amma says your inner guru will be awakened. till then have patience. But we understand that we have lot of kiddies here , who are like new born babies who may not be having any religious/ spiritual background . Amma do speak for new people, always. same too will be done here too.. more preference will be given to the newbies as they need more guidance. We cannot advise them about too much of advita vedanta . It will be too dry for them . hence the puja practices and all . let them start with devotion , let us see the pogress after that we will hand over them to amma. They need somebody who have the patience to hold their hands and take to next level. hope I have not confused more people .. lol.. ngiaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa .. I don't have the time to write .. else I am going to be cooked up like bala uncle too.. ngiiiaaaa... hey dears !!! pls pray to amma to minimise my sleep from 8 hrs to 2 hours .. pleazzzze. with lots of luv At her children's service Your little brother

Yesterday I tried meditating at my work place (lots of down time there) around 5:30AM, & was amazed at how peaceful & quiet it seemed, even in unfamiliar surroundings. I'm sold. << There seems to be a tendency on this list to recommend ritualistic practices >> As I understand it, we need these in the beginning. ....newbies.. . hence the puja practices and all . let them start with devotion ... Sri Ramakrishna said that the way is love & then prayer, which agrees w/starting w/devotion. And speaking of babies, a concept came to me (I'll bet it was from our Amma) while meditating last night. This may help those who are also riding life's seeming waves of uncertainty. As my ego was resisting surrender, I suddenly felt that I was a yet to be born baby in our Mother's womb. All comfortable & everything taken care of with nothing to do but rest & grow. Afterwards, I hung onto the concept of living in God's/Divine Mother's womb. We really are in God afterall. It even helped me to look more kindly upon others, to see us as being born from the same Mother's womb. hey dears !!! pls pray to amma to minimise my sleep from 8 hrs to 2 hours .. pleazzzze. I think Amma recommends not less than 4 hours & to reduce sleep gradually. If your hitting the 2 hour mark, then your in Amma's territory! Mail is new and improved - Check it out!
