The ideal devotee (Bhakta) should. a.. not hate any living being b.. cultivate friendship and compassion c.. give up the feeling of "I and Mine" d.. be unmoved by happiness or misery e.. be forgiving f.. strive for self-control g.. always be content with what he/she has h.. have a strong determination i.. surrender his/her mind and intellect to God. j.. not be afraid of anyone; and none in the world should fear him/her k.. desire nothing l.. be pure and efficient m.. be free from elation, anger, fear and turbulence of mind n.. be indifferent to what befalls him/her o.. be free from weakness of mind p.. free from the feeling that he/she is an independent agent q.. have no feeling of elation and enmity or desire r.. develop an attitude of mind which rejects good as well as bad things s.. have no attachments and should accept pain and pleasure, honor and disgrace, heat and cold equally as his/her portion t.. look upon friends and foes alike u.. not indulge in idle talk v.. not attached to any fixed abode w.. be steadfast in mind. It is such a 'Bhakta' that is dear to Sri Krishna. And most important of all, those Bhaktas are most dear to God who love him with full faith in his supremacy.
