Guest guest
Devotee Dr. K.G. Kanakamma finds Amma's Grace at a time of illness. Our family has been truly blessed by receiving the manifold blessing of our Divine Guru, Amma. With inexpressible gratitude I humbly wish to share my experience with Amma's devotees who avidly read Matruvani. My little family is comprised of a daughter, a son, my husband and myself. My daughter is a student in the pre-degree class and my son is studying in 5th standard. Even now, I can clearly remember the events of those fateful days in our lives. In mid-February of this year, I was seized by a disease of the kidneys. Being a homeo doctor myself, I depended on homeo treatment for my easy recovery. True enough, I had some relief. But unfortunately, my body was overcome by sudden fatigue and the disease compounded. In this crisis, I felt there was no point in continuing the homeo treatment. So I approached a gynecologist in order to undergo surgical treatment. My change of decision was justified by the gynecologist's report. When I underwent scanning as directed by that doctor, it was found that a 4.25 cm x 4 cm fleshy growth was thriving on my right uterus. Since it was increasing in size, the doctor told me to remove it by surgery as soon as possible. The date for the operation was fixed for February 15. Since such an incident was occurring for the first time in our family, fear gripped our home atmosphere. The children became very sad and depressed. We, their parents, who were suppose to have consoled them and given them cheer, were even more affected by the trauma. My peace was weighed down by thoughts of the children's education and their future. At last we surrendered completely at the lotus feet of Amma, taking Her as the one and only refuge. I began praying desperately with the utmost intensity that I could muster. My husband and children also came and stood before Amma's radiant picture on the altar in our prayer room. They too prayed for me with burning hearts. Before the disease struck me, I had resolved that we would celebrate this year's Sivaratri festival with Amma in Her ashram. It was our practice to be with Amma on all special days. All of us relished celebrating Onam, Vishu, Amma's birthday, Sivaratri and other festive days with Amma in Her ashram. It was something that we had begun after having met Amma. I didn't want to break that practice now. Sivaratri was on February 14 and my operation was to be on the 15th. Many of our friends and acquaintances advised me against making the journey to the ashram in such a delicate condition. But we were determined at any cost not to go back on our resolve to have Amma's darshan. When we reached the ashram on Sivaratri day, the crowd was unbelievably large. We couldn't even move through the rush of devotees. Finally we somehow managed to find some standing space on the balcony. From our vantage point, we could see Amma giving darshan in the temple. Since the queue was unusually large, Amma was giving darshan very fast. After a long wait, we too reached the queue for darshan. But the darshan was agonizingly short. Before I could say or ask anything of Amma, She had embraced me and kissed me, and then the darshan was over. I was crestfallen. I had traveled to Amritapuri, braving agonizing pain. "Darling daughter," this call was all that I received from Amma. I broke down in tears, "O Amma, have you forsaken me?" My husband tried to console me, pointing out the thousands that were still waiting for Amma's darshan. "We were fortunate enough to have received Amma's darshan and prasad. That is sufficient, as Amma is omniscient. She is aware of everything," he said. Those of our acquaintances who were believers in Amma also gave me heart by their many cheerful words. Soon, I felt as if my illness had already been cured by Amma's darshan. Since we had to reach the hospital the very next day for the surgery, we left Amritapuri after our darshans. I also needed complete rest. The next morning at the hospital I was taken to the fully mechanized scanning room for scanning. I lay down, surrendering myself at Amma's lotus feet. Her Divine form and name completely filled my mind. My uterus, kidneys and liver were all scanned. After an hour long, detailed examination, the doctor broke the heartening news to us: "Don't worry, you need not undergo any surgery at all." My husband, who was filled with anxiety, had been sitting at my side and fervently praying. Suddenly his face lit up with a smile of relief. Both of us forgot our surroundings and called out joyously in unison: "Amma!" The defects that had been noticed in the previous scanning were mystifyingly absent now! The 4.25 cm x 4 cm fleshy lump that had grown on my right uterus had vanished! In its place was just a tiny bubble. That was all, and it was quite harmless. It was nothing but Amma's amazing grace -- inconceivable by any intellect. Amma, in Her infinite compassion, had saved me from the dangers of a hazardous operation. Now I am back to my normal health. I have recovered completely. At my home, the joy that was lost from our lives is sparkling once again. Above all, I am completely grounded in the knowledge that Amma's blessings will be with me always. For this Onam also, I reached Amma's sacred presence with my dear ones. We had our precious Onam prasadam from Amma's own hands. My eyes fill with tears of gratitude when I remember that it was Amma alone who gave me the chance to partake of the prasad of this Onam. O Mother Divine. Amma. Empress of the entire creation. My humble prostrations of gratitude to Thee!
Guest guest
Dearest Kanakamma, Thank you for your wonderful story. Truly your faith in Amma brought this healing grace to you and your family. It is a encouraging to read about how someone else can be completely fooled by appearances around Amma. So many of us think that Amma has hardly noticed us even as we are being showered by her transforming grace. Aikya Ammachi, Bhattathiry <mulavana@a...> wrote: > Devotee Dr. K.G.
