Guest guest
I'm not close enough to the money management to give details, but I do go to the MA Center in San Ramon nearly weekly. Brahmachari Dayamrita will tell us when Amma has a concern about spending. At one point she wanted all of us to suggest ways to save money, which we did and some were implemented. Amma's Green Friends helped with the paper plate boondoggle. Attendees at Amma's programs can buy vegetarian meals. Green Friends let us know a few years ago that the organization was spending something like $10,000 on paper plates. The first solution tried was to have everyone buy their own lunchbox and clean it out. Not enough people caught on to this however. Plan B was to get plastic plates that could be washed. Amma repeatedly refuses to have lots of money spent to make her travels more comfortable. By now it's legendary that she refused to ride in a chartered plane between Fairfield IA and Chicago but was driven. Reason? Too many people are hungry. The money should be used to help them instead. Others can probably chime in with other tales.
