Namah Shivaya,

Joanna's story is also the one I read. My recollection is that Amma said the

woman's tears had basically caused God to wipe away her sin. I will continue to

search for the story. I recently read in regards to a question about an owner

personally performing animal euthenasia, that Amma said taking life is not Her

way, but to do as the vet recommended. Amma said that since we didn't create

life, it's not our place to take it. I believe that Amma's words may not always

agree with our individual opinions, but that Hers are in-line with our Creator's

mind. And, God's mind being all-knowing is definitely wiser than any one of our

individual minds.

While the single parent of a 10-year-old, back in the 80's I felt forced into an

abortion by my situation, & my fickle supposed husband-to-be. In hind sight, I

can see that God responded to my prayer and provided a way out, which would have

been extremely difficult. I had the abortion & grieved many repentent tears for

at least one year. Years later, with only a temporary job & new to a state, I

"just knew" I was pregnant, 3 days or less into the pregnancy. Along with that

strong intuition, I also "just knew" that if I carried the baby to term, God

would be with us. During all of these "just knowings" I also had the sense in

my mind's eye that a woman in long white clothing was standing near my bedroom

window. Could have been my imagination, but I delivered the "baby" over 13

years ago. My search for God & the meeting of my Guru, Amma, was the result of

an intense situation with my child. It's been very challenging at times, but

God has been with us.

On that note, I have a prayer request, please. I was layed-off from my decent

paying technical job over 2 years ago, and was unemployed for a long period.

I'm earning less than half of my former salary, while living in one of the most

expensive areas of the country. I just checked my account, and if I don't find

a better paying job very soon, I will need to relocate over 2,000 miles away to

my sister's isolated cabin in northern Wisconsin. (My parents are gone.) This

would be ever so challenging in so many ways, emotionally and otherwise, for

both her and my little family. Amma advised me to reconsider the move last

year. That if I did it to do it only a temporary basis & "just see how it goes."

Amma also said She would help me, as She can. She has helped me during the past

year, including the almost immediate rental of a place that cost 1/3 less. Now

I'm also looking at probably being forced into filing for bankruptsey. A

satsang member is delivering a letter to RI for me,

which I hope Amma soon reads. I need Her help again and more faith. I'm

relating well to Robin's feelings and fears she expressed a couple of weeks ago.

I need to remember that I am God's child & servant. Then surrender everything,

believing that the outcome will be for the highest good. God & Amma have

miraculously helped us in the 11th. hour before. Still, I would really

appreciate any sincere prayers.

Thank you,

Sweta

as far as abortion , from what I can remember in

Awaken Children

there was a story of woman who felt very guilty for

having one , Amma

consoled her not to feel guilty anymore , however She

recommended

to ask forgivness to the departed soul ( in this case

the unborn soul )

so that it does not feel unwanted . Amma did mention

in this Awaken

Chidlren that women should not feel guilty about it ,

however one probably should be cautious and use it as

birth control .

I think the best place to ask about money would be the

Amma Center

or the Trust that handles the donations , I am sure

the website

Amma.org will provide You the information who you can

contact.

I do belive that Amma is overlooking all the spendings

and trying to keep the cost of tours etc minimal .

hope that helps

Namah Shivaya Sweta,

I will definitely say prayers for you this evening. I know how

difficult it is to be un- or under-employed. My husband is in a

similar situation himself. He has two masters degrees and is a bus

boy at a restaurant. It kills me that people walk by him, seeing him

sweeping a floor, and do not realize how brilliant he really is...

I have some friends/contacts in WI. I am also a technical recruiter

myself. If I can be of any assistance, please do email me off-list

and let me know.

Amma is with you, now and always.

With love,

Erica

Abortion Story & Prayer Request, please

Namaste,

Dear Sweeta, you have my sincere prayers and all the love I can send you. But

please, do surrender all of it as you can - in my own life, I hit a situation

quite similar to yours and Robin's and the small surrenders brought small

reliefs. It was only when my head and heart were so battered and overwhelmed

that I truly collapsed at God's feet and could not rise again with the burdens

and worries still on my back that I understood the depth of surrender required

for the Lord to carry me (I was Christian at that time). This may not be where

you are, but I found it utterly true for me - and not to speak for her, but it

seems that when Robin really, really hit the wall, Amma sent all of us, and

Herself, to heal the wounds. I think Robin's life is improving by the second

and I will pray to Mother for such a gift to you.

With love and compassion,

Snehalata

handed me what I needed around every corner. Money through the mail here, a

friend helping out there, and I just recieved BONUS from work today which is

incredibly rare!!!! I can pay my rent another month!!! I have the highest faith

in Amma, and am so blissed out from LOVE off and on at any given moment!!! I

have TOTAL surrender in this moment. I don't know how long it will last. I hope

forever! I just know now that Amma will NEVER let ANY of her children go without

what they need. Know that Amma is with you dearest sister, in everyway possible,

help is on the way, when you need it most, that is when Amma will swoop in and

pick you up!! You have my most sincerest prayers!! Peace,

Thank you Robin. I know you are right. For some reason my faith still takes a

vacation sometimes, (after all the divine grace I've received, it's silly) then

I panic, as if "I" were ever in control anyway! Maybe I'll keep getting tested

until I get it right, & when I get it right the tests won't even matter to me.

Argh, this old, futile worry vasana has got to go. I've felt the help from

prayers today & felt myself surrendering more and more. I'm glad you reminded

me to live in the moment. We are OK!!! I even felt a moment of perfect peace.

I really appreciate your support.

With much love,

Sweta

Namaste Swetaji,

I think to some extent we have control (maybe this is my ego speaking

out:-), but I will add that we have control to the extent MOther lets

us have control). I have had numerous times when my faith takes a

vacation if not a permanent journey elsewhere, at that moment the

results have been very funny, bizzare or miraculous ( will share

these some other time) - it is a well known "secret" that the moment

you walk away from Amma, Amma will come running towards you. Amma

often says that when you take one step towards the Guru, the Guru

takes 99 steps towards you; I will rephrase this to "when you take

one step away from the Guru, the Guru will take 1000 steps towards

you" LOL.

Coming back to troubles and problems, Amma has given us two powerful

weapons to cut through any turmoil; one is the initiated mantra and

the other is the Lalithasahasranama; before we go ahead and ask Amma

for Her help, I think we need to make sure that we have done all we

can. The LS is one of the most powerful prayer and mantras for all

problems- material and spiritual; in order to get the most bang for

the buck, this stotra has be chanted early in the morning ( in the

hours before sunrise), same place and same time everyday and I will

assure you that there will be some amelioration of problems in 40

days.

The other weapon, which is the personal mantra also needs to be

activated by doing japa all the time - in meditation in the 2 hours

before sunrise and then subconsciously all the time, whatever

activity you are engaged in - after a few days this will become a

habit without any conscious effort and great joy results from such

practice. In meditating with the mantra, there are certain things to

be observed for the maximum benefits -

- body has to be perfectly still

- the body should be perfect relaxed

- posture with spine erect (there is a picture of Amma in meditation

in the files/photos section, this is the ideal posture, let me know

if you are not able to find these)

- slow down breathing or combine mantra with breath (eg 4 japas on

the inhale and 4 japas on the exhale, when this is done correctly, no

fatigue results and one can sit for several hours easily).

[these are things that i picked up from various teachers and have

been reinforced by Amma or the Swamis at some point].

When I was initially strugging to wake up at 4am(this was during

winter), one day I decided that i will sleep just for today (it is

very humorous to see all the justifications that the ego comes up to

avoid japa); at the anointed time, I suddenly had a dream where Amma

came and asked me to get up to do japa - as with all divine dreams, I

was so thorougly energized by the dream and immediately got up. The

next day same thing happened, and I heard Amma's voice shouting at

tme "Ezhunekada"(get up) and I again got up immediately. It is my

firm belief that Amma will personally guide and intervene and protect

one is doing japa during brahmamuhurtha].

Sarada Devi the divine spouse of Sri Ramakrishna has said that to see

tangible effect from mantra japa, the mantra needs to be said at

least 15000 times a day (dont let this number scare you, most of it

can be done subconsciously while going about our daily tasks). In my

life, japa of mantras has truly transformed me and I cannot praise

this enough.

So Swetaji, I hope that in the next few days, you will do your utmost

in using these two gifts that Amma has given us. None of what I said

is my invention, all are directly from Amma's teachings.

My prayers are with you!

-yogaman

Someone asked Amma about her views on abortion during the question-

answer session at a retreat in Rhode Island (I think it was last year,

but I am not very sure). I am very tired right now, but I will write

down all that I remember in a few days time. Please feel free to

remind me if I forget to do so. Probably some one with a better memory

than mine, or with notes taken down during the question-answer session

can answer your question.

I will continue to search for the story. I recently read in regards

to a question about an owner personally performing animal euthenasia,

that Amma said taking life is not Her way, but to do as the vet

recommended. Amma said that since we didn't create life, it's not our

place to take it. I believe that Amma's words may not always agree

help me, as She can. She has helped me during the past year, including

the almost immediate rental of a place that cost 1/3 less. Now I'm

also looking at probably being forced into filing for bankruptsey. A

satsang member is delivering a letter to RI for me,

> which I hope Amma soon reads. I need Her help again and more

faith. I'm relating well to Robin's feelings and fears she expressed

a couple of weeks ago. I need to remember that I am God's child &

servant. Then surrender everything, believing that the outcome will

be for the highest good. God & Amma have miraculously helped us in

the 11th. hour before. Still, I would really appreciate any sincere

prayers.

Someone asked Amma about Her views on abortion during the question-

answer session at a retreat in Rhode Island (I think it was last year,

but I am not very sure). I am very tired right now, but I will write

down all that I remember in a few days time. Please feel free to

remind me if I forget to do so. Probably some one with a better memory

than mine, or with notes taken down during the question-answer session

can answer your question.

said the woman's tears had basically caused God to wipe away her sin.

I will continue to search for the story. I recently read in regards

to a question about an owner personally performing animal euthenasia,

that Amma said taking life is not Her way, but to do as the vet

recommended. Amma said that since we didn't create life, it's not our

place to take it. I believe that Amma's words may not always agree

with our individual opinions, but that Hers are in-line with our

Creator's mind. And, God's mind being all-knowing is definitely wiser

than any one of our individual minds.

forced into an abortion by my situation, & my fickle supposed

husband-to-be. In hind sight, I can see that God responded to my

prayer and provided a way out, which would have been extremely

difficult. I had the abortion & grieved many repentent tears for at

least one year. Years later, with only a temporary job & new to a

state, I "just knew" I was pregnant, 3 days or less into the

pregnancy. Along with that strong intuition, I also "just knew" that

if I carried the baby to term, God would be with us. During all of

these "just knowings" I also had the sense in my mind's eye that a

woman in long white clothing was standing near my bedroom window.

Could have been my imagination, but I delivered the "baby" over 13

years ago. My search for God & the meeting of my Guru, Amma, was the

result of an intense situation with my child. It's been very

challenging at times, but God has been with us.

my decent paying technical job over 2 years ago, and was unemployed

for a long period. I'm earning less than half of my former salary,

while living in one of the most expensive areas of the country. I

just checked my account, and if I don't find a better paying job very

soon, I will need to relocate over 2,000 miles away to my sister's

isolated cabin in northern Wisconsin. (My parents are gone.) This

would be ever so challenging in so many ways, emotionally and

otherwise, for both her and my little family. Amma advised me to

reconsider the move last year. That if I did it to do it only a

temporary basis & "just see how it goes." Amma also said She would
