Guest guest
Namah Shivaya all, Can anyone tell me what is Amma's stand on gay marriage and abortion? Also, does the MA Center have any facts, figures, etc. as to where the money that has been donated goes? Meaning, are they accountable to anyone? Guest guest
Namah Shivaya, Hi sweetie! I don't know about the first part, but as far as I can tell the MA Center is absolutely accountable for their money. As a registered non-profit they have to document everything! I'm the contact person for Austin, and I have all these forms that need to be filled out for every nickel we spend, and there are strict guidelines about how to spend them. And from what I've heard from long-time devotees, no one can spend a large amount of money without asking Amma. She really does still manage every aspect of Amritapuri and the MA Center, and probably the orgs in Europe and other parts as well. Of course, don't take this all from me - this is all the impression I"ve gotten. I'm the first to admit I don't have any facts. Guest guest
Dear Erica, I don't know about marriage, but I know of at least one female couple who seem to be in highly visable volunteer positions at the MA Center & our satsang. I read a story about a woman's experience around abortion & Amma. I'll send it if I find it. Sweta Gabriela Rios <gabriela1027 wrote: Namah Shivaya, Hi sweetie! Guest guest
Dear Erika as far as abortion , from what I can remember in Awaken Children there was a story of woman who felt very guilty for having one , Amma consoled her not to feel guilty anymore , however She recommended to ask forgivness to the departed soul ( in this case the unborn soul ) so that it does not feel unwanted . Amma did mention in this Awaken Chidlren that women should not feel guilty about it , however one probably should be cautious and use it as birth control . I think the best place to ask about money would be the Amma Center or the Trust that handles the donations , I am sure the website Amma.org will provide You the information who you can contact. I do belive that Amma is overlooking all the spendings and trying to keep the cost of tours etc minimal . hope that helps Joanna S Vote for the stars of 's next ad campaign! http://advision.webevents.//votelifeengine/
Guest guest
Hi, If that was true I am sure Amma would have allowed it after looking at the situation. But the "yes" here should not be used as ok for the other abortions and assuming Amma is ok with it too. Use methods to avoid pregnancy. But if you got pregnant try ways to maintain or give away for adoption as you have "promised" a body for the soul , keep the promise. Guest guest
Namah Shivaya all, I am asking only because these questions were posted to me and I had no answers. My original reaction was that Amma doesn't tell us *what* to do, but we all know that our actions are charges to our Karma card (high intrest rate on that one! heehee). Amma also tells us to love all, serve all, and treat all equally. As for the money aspect of things, the person who brought it up is very skeptical of any group where money is involved. Humans are humans and make mistakes. I have searched through Amma.org, Amritapuri.org, and also AIMShospital.org and found no information about non-profit status nor who to contact regarding funds. Hmmm. I'll do more research. Thank you to all! With love, At Amma's feet, Erica P.S. It was so nice to meet you, Gabriela!!! Guest guest
Hi, I am asking as a general principal, not as a personal permission slip. I am pro-choice, and it is a very important issue for me and the person who asked the question, which is why I was asking if Amma had any stance on it. Thanks! Guest guest
Namah Shivaya, Very good answer, Erica, that Amma doesn't tell us what to do. I think deep down we all know when what we are doing is right or wrong, if it's even as easy as that! Things aren't always that black-and-white! But for someone who has had something happen in their past, of course Amma doesn't judge us or hold it against us. I have made lots and lots and lots of mistakes in my past, and used very poor judgement, and I know She doesn't care about that. However I now hold myself to a higher standard and expect myself to use my discrimination better - thanks to Her I have a guide... The Guide, actually! As far as humans making mistakes, I bet they do. I wouldn't be surprised if there are, or have been in the past, discrepencies with money handling. In fact, I think I even read about it in one of Neal's books. However that doesn't mean that overall the money isn't being handled correctly for the right purposes. Also, when people express concerns about money in the organization to me, I just tell them not to get involved in that part - donations aren't compulsory by any means! It's really that simple, you know? It was SO awesome meeting you, Erica, and everyone else I met: Iswari, Kenna, Keval, etc. Such beautiful people, inside and out! Meeting you all felt like I was meeting long-lost cousins at a family reunion. I can't wait until next year - NY is definitely on my schedule! It was a difficult program in many respects, but it was incredible, dynamic, like fire and I felt like I was burning inside at times. Thank you, Amma.
