He was out all day but didn't get anything. He returned to the Master that evening, tired and hungry. He felt angry with God because he hadn't received any alms. He said to the Master, "From now on, I don't want to depend on God. You always tell us that we will get everything we want if we surrender to God. Why should I take refuge in a God who can't give me even one meal? It was a mistake to put my trust in God!" The Master said to him, "I will give you 100,000 rupees. Will you give me your eyes in return?" The disciple replied, "I would be blind without my eyes! Who would sell their eyes for any price?" "Forget the eyes then. Will you give me your tongue?" "How would I be able to speak without my tongue?" "Give me your arm then. Or, if that isn't possible, your leg will do. I'll give you 100,000 rupees?" "My body is more valuable than money. No one would want to lose any part of their body." Perceiving the attitude of the disciple, the Master said, "Your body is indeed invaluable. But God gave it to you without taking anything in return. Still, you criticize God. God didn't give you that priceless body so that you would just sit idle. You are mean to live a life of action, with great attention and awareness." :: AMMA SHARANAM
