I don't know whether someone has already answered this question for you,

but during the IAM meditation course, Swami Dayamrita specifically mentioned

that Amma says menstruation is a more spiritual time for a woman,

and to focus on spiritual matters at this time, for beneficial results

(he didn't say it in those words, but that is how they came out here!)

I have asked about receiving darshan during my menstruation, and have always

been told that it is not an issue for Amma or the Swamis.

That much I knew, having taken the IAM meditation training. I think

Amma can tell more about menstruation and spirituality. If her

children can be thought of as broadly bicultural, both cultures,

Indian and Western, have taboos surrounding menstruation. The way

this key transition in a young woman's life is handled by her family

and community is key to her future self-esteem, sense of her "place"

in the community, and her capacity to grow spiritually. This is a

crucial issue.

Again I hope that someone will ask Amma to speak about this in one

of the Q and A sessions.
