Guest guest
Peace to everyone. I met Amma at one of her retreats last summer. I have been a practitioner in another tradition for several years but have noted a deepening and an acceleration of my spiritual development since meeting Amma and spending time with the friend who introduced me to her. I'm wondering if someone would be willing to walk me through the procedure for asking her for a mantra and a name. I'm also wondering if this is done at the free public programs as well as on the retreats. I'm currently reserved for one of the retreats but am feeling called to attend a free public program as well. I have been told that, once Amma gives one a mantra, she expects to be one's only teacher. If this is the case, I have no problem in "trading in" my existing practice if that is the expectation. Thank you, KH/Ron
Guest guest
Namah Shivaya, To answer the logistical part of your question: During Devi Bhava, when you go for your darshan, say to Amma "Amma, mantra?" Most of the time she nods and motions you to Her right side of the stage where a mantra "counselor" will talk to you about the process. As for a name, I believe you ask for that in a separate line, but not sure. I haven't done it yet! Also, she can make you wait minutes, hours, days, months or years for a name. Guest guest
I was asking Amma to name me for several years, and just recieved it on Guru Purnima this year. There is a seperate line, and they do not do it during evening programs or Devi Bhava. I suggest you get to the morning program at about 8:00 or 8:30am and hang around the question line by the stage until someone comes by. love, Prajna --- Gabriela Rios <gabriela1027 wrote: > Namah Shivaya, > > To answer the logistical part of your question: > During > Devi Bhava, when you go for your darshan, say to > Amma > "Amma, mantra?" Guest guest
It never occurred to me to ask Amma for a Sanskrit name. On one darshan, when I was feeling particularly low, I wondered if Amma would chant a Deity name in my ear during my hug. She chanted "Le-nord, Le-nord, Le-nord." I realized this was her accent's version of my own English name! So I don't NEED a special name in Sanskrit -- my Mother knows who I am! -- Len/ Kalipadma On Thu, 8 Jul 2004 19:58:00 -0700 (PDT) Gabriela Rios <gabriela1027 writes: > > As for a name, I believe you ask for that in a > separate line, but not sure. Guest guest
Just to be sure you understand, the question line and the line for names are two different things. So, be sure to ask which line is for what...and I wish you blessings in this... Namah shivaya, Iswari Ammachi, "Khalid Hussain" <khalidhussain@s...> wrote: > Thank you all for your replies.
