Guest guest
Seems like I need to post a few reminders every now and then: -- Please trim quoted matter when replying to postings. Delete everything except the paragraph (or better still, the sentence) to which you are replying. This helps avoid very long messages with dozens of rows of >'s and sometimes nested sets of >>'s when a posting has been replied to more than once. Remember that some of us still have slow dial-up connections and/or obsolete computers, and don't have the time to waste downloading and scrolling through long messages that are 95% needlessly re-quoted material. -- Always include a relevant subject line. Any message that hits my inbox with nothing entered in the [] field I consider potential spam and will delete unopened. If the subject of the thread has substantially changed, particularly if you're the one who is changing it, change the subject line accordingly. You can include the former subject line, e.g. [Amma blessing pet rats (was: Re: Dallas satsang)] . If you receive messages in digests, or are responding to a member who receives digests, always replace "Digest number ----" with a subject that is relevant to the topic in the digest to which you are replying. -- Before you click "send", ask yourself if your reply would be better sent only to the person who posted the message, i.e. off-list, rather than to the entire group. Remember, when you send a message to <Ammachi> everyone on this list - and I believe there are over 100 members - will read it and will have to take the time to download it. This particularly applies to short messages such as "congratulations"!, "hooray!", "Mazel Tov" (or whatever the Hindu/Sanskrit equivalent of same which usually seem to include many lines of untrimmed text. BTW, though the regular monitor Peter is back from his holidays, I am still acting moderator for a while longer! Keval
Guest guest
Dear Keval, It would be easier to reply off-list if showed people's personal email addresses. Guest guest
Girish, I choose not to have the individual emails because my Inbox would be too flooded. I get the Daily Digest, but usually go to the website itself to see the messages. I don't understand why blocks the emails from the website yet allows them to be visible from emails. Oh well. Thanks, Erica Ammachi, Girish <girishsv@g...> wrote: > Erica, > If you enable Individual e-mails in your preferences you > would get these mails in your Inbox and could reply off-list > Go to > Ammachi/ > > Click on Edit my membership on the right side > and then choose yr e-mail address and select the Individual e-mails option. > Click on the Save Changes below. Guest guest
I read the messages on the website rather than receive emails. To Reply to one person, when I am at a message, I click 'Reply'. In the form that comes up, the field has a pulldown menu -- I can choose between the individual, the whole group, or the moderator. Even if the full email address is not visible in the pulldown menu, the mail is delivered correctly. Also, clicking on an email address in the message, even when it is not fully visible, still works for sending mail to individuals.
