Guest guest
Apparently, some line monitors had been inadvertently turning people away from darshan, due to an honest mistake. Amma made a microphone announcement during darshan to the line monitors to be careful, since people often drive a long way to see her. Later that night, Amma humorously pointed out two of the line monitors as the latest incarnations of Jaya and Vijaya. The line monitors, too, took it lightly, and we had a good laugh. [Jaya and Vijaya were Lord Vishnu's doorkeepers in Vaikuntha, and once when Vishnu was sleeping, they refused admission to the 7 sages who had come for Vishnu's darshan. Furious, the sages cursed Jaya and Vijaya to be reborn on earth as humans -- the sages offered a choice of 3 births as demons, or 7 as devotees. The hapless Jaya and Vijaya turned to Vishnu, and explained that they were just doing their duty. They chose the 3 births as demons (to get it over with fast), and Vishnu promised to personally come and deliver them from their earthly ordeal. Thus was Hiranyaksha (liberated by Varaha, the boar), Hiranyakshipu (liberated by Narasimha, the half-man/half- lion), Ravan and Kumbhakarna (liberated by Rama), Shishupala and xxx (?) liberated by Krishna) born.]
Guest guest
Hi Vallath (nandu), It was the 4 Sanatkumaras, not the 7 sages, that cursed Jaya and Vijaya. Sri Krishna liberated Kamsa and Sisupala. Jai Ma! Guest guest
Yes the 4 Sanatkumaras were the ones who cursed. I was not aware of the 3 lifetimes but there may be different versions of the story in each Purana. Who knows, fervent Amma-critics like Zacharia and Sreeni maybe great devotees of the Mother but under a curse. I honestly feel that critics should be encouraged to criticize to the utmost; for in the act of criticizing, at least they are thinking of Amma :-) I am reminded of the story of Ajamila where he calls (his son) Narayana at the point of death, but the messengers of Visnu come to take him. -yogaman Ammachi, "manoj_menon" <ammasmon@s...> wrote: > Hi Vallath (nandu), > > It was the 4 Sanatkumaras, not the 7 sages, that cursed Jaya and > Vijaya. > > Sri Krishna liberated Kamsa and Sisupala. > > Jai Ma! > > Ammachi, "vallathnkumar" <vallathn@h...> > wrote: > > Apparently, some line monitors had been inadvertently turning > people > > away from darshan, due to an honest mistake.
