Guest guest
Namaste! Could some one tell about the accomodation provided for the Seattle retreat? Someone told me that it is really bad and it is better to stay in a nearby hotel. Aum Namasivaya -yogaman
Guest guest
Om Namah Shivayah, The retreat accomodations are in the Pacific Lutheran University dorms. Mine last year were fine, although I didn't care much for the "group shower" bathroom--a very, very minor thing in my mind. What do you mean by "really bad"? I think some of the rooms may have been too hot as we had a very UN-Seattle-like heat wave that weekend with 95 degree temperatures. Don't worry, it's been cool and rainy here for a few days--but one never knows. It hasn't been over 69 degrees for at least a week or two. Over 70 in Seattle is "hot weather." Guest guest
Om Namah Shivaya Dear Yogaman, list member Jyotsna does a lot of seva at the Seattle retreat, and I see that she has already written to you about the accomodations at PLU. I have found Jyotsna to be very service minded in helping me get needed information about different matters. She is a very giving and sincere devotee of Amma, so if you need any more specific information I suggest that you just write to her. One question out my curious mind: in what city or town do you live in the northwest? Guest guest
Jyotsna-ji, Thanks for the information. I am not really sure what exactly "really bad" was as this how someone put it to me. Now it may have been one of the other retreats (Rhode Island?), not sure though. Yes I remember the weather last year when Amma was in town. Could you also tell me what time darshan ends in the night for the retreat days. In San Ramon, it usually goes all the way to 6 am in the morning as there are a lot more people. In Seattle I would think that it ends a lot earlier because there is not that many people coming here?? Aum Namasivaya -yogaman Ammachi, "E. Guest guest
Namaste Sara-ji, Yes agreed, Jyotsnaji is very helpful; we are indeed grateful to such Amma devotees. I stay in Seattle. This is a great week for Seattle; both the Mothers(Karunamayi Amma and Ammachi) are in town this week. One curious thing, whenever Karunamayiamma comes here, it rains during her visit; and when Amma is here, it is hot and sunny. I have been in Seattle only for 1 year so maybe I am extrapolating too much. Now it > may have been one > of the other retreats (Rhode Island?), not sure > though. Hi again, I have no idea what it could mean either. In the "old days" when the Seattle retreat was at Fort Flagler, now that was rustic and could be described as "really bad" unless one was focused on Amma, in which case it was heaven on earth. > Yes I remember the weather last year when Amma was > in town. Could you > also tell me what time darshan ends in the night for > the retreat > days. It ends whatever time Amma wants it to! She can "speed it up" or slow it down at will. I'm guessing 4:00 a.m. on Fri. night, 2:30 on Sat. and 6 a.m. on Devi Bhava. Now Amma can make me look really foolish:). > it ends a lot earlier because there is not that many > people coming > here? I think we're running ahead of last year's registration, so far. Who knows? Some think one of the Seattle retreat's charms is that it is less crowded than the Bay Area. In Amma's love, Jyotsna P.S. I've always thought the poem by Emily Dickinson "If you were coming in the fall" could be applied to Amma's coming. One verse only: "If you were coming in the fall, I'd brush the summer by With half a smile and half a spurn, As housewives do a fly." Be still my heart! Amma's almost here! Friends. Fun. The catch phrase I've heard is "it always rains on Devi Bhava," although it didn't last year. > J. > > > > Friends. Fun.
