The first agent, after having surveyed the area, sent a message back to the company saying: 'As these people have never even heard of shoes, I don't think it will be possible to sell shoes here. Therefore, I am returning immediately.' The second agent, however sent a message which read, 'As these people have never used shoes before, I think that there would be a very large scope for shoe sales here. So send a full shipment immediately.' The second agent had optimism, faith, and enthusiasm. This enabled him to act with discrimination, and he met with success."
