Guest guest
My note: Kerala (politically) is a very secular oriented state. Large Communist, Muslim and Christian population. I recently saw this article posted that goes into more concerns about the demographics in Kerala (and I guess explains people's concerns over efforts by Christians to convert people): 'Indian religions will become minorities by 2061' Saturday April 24 2004 14:45 IST THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Indian religions such as Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism and Sikhism would become minority religions by 2061, Jitendra K.Bajaj, director, Centre of Policy Studies, Chennai, said here on Friday He was presenting a paper on 'Religious demography of India' during a discussion on 'Changing patterns in religion-wise census in India,' jointly organised by Bharatheeya Vichara Kendram and the Kerala University unit of Researchers Forum for National Resurgence, at the Thiruvananthapuram Press Club. Jitendra K.Bajaj said Kerala with its dwindling population patterns would become a Hindu minority State in the near future. Bharatheeya Vichara Kendram director P.Parameswaran said some corrective steps be taken immediately as serious demographic imbalances were on the rise across the nation My note (again): There are a variety of laws in India related to what is perceived as "harm" to religious groups that may seem at odds with our values in the west. Maybe someone from "over there" (India) can explain and identify what some of those laws are. (Not too well acquainted with the details myself.)
