Rousing reception given to Amritanandamayi

PALAKKAD: Mata Amritanandamayi, on a three-day visit

to Palakkad in connection with the fifth anniversary

celebrations of the Brahmasthana temple, was given a

rousing reception at the Math in Puthur on Wednesday

evening.

 

Earlier, Mata, who reached here from Thrissur, was

received with poornakumbham at Yakkara and was brought

in a procession to the Math in Puthur. There were no

programmes on Wednesday.

 

Amritanandamayi will give darshan to the public from

May 6 to 8. There will also be a discourse and

bhakthiganasudha.

 

On May 7, there will be Chovvadosha nivarana pooja and

on May 8, Rahudosha nivarana pooja and Shanidosha

nivarana pooja.

 

DARSHAN: The darshan of Mata Amritanandamayi by the

devotees which started at 8 p.m. on Tuesday concluded

at 11 a.m. on Wednesday in Thrissur.

 

The darshan was held in connection with a reception

accorded to her at the Thekkinkad Maidan. Thousands of

devotees thronged the Maidan to catch a glimpse of

Mata.

 

Earlier, speaking at the reception, she stressed the

need for transcending the divisions of caste and

creed. ‘‘Only truth will help curb the divisive forces

in the society.

 

‘‘Those who have attained truth will never resort to

violence. We all should work hard for cultivating

values and convictions in righteousnes,’’ she said

 

Mayor K.Radhakrishnan and Therambil Radhakrishnan MLA

were present at the function. Kerala Sahitya Akademi

secretary P.V.Krishnan Nair welcomed the gathering and

writer K.B.Sreedevi introduced Mata Amritanandamayi.
