Dear GeorgeSon -

I respect your concern for Omenka's suffering and sincere sharing, and that

that be respected.

However, everyone has their own way of offering support. Your response gave

me the

impression that only certain kinds of support are welcome here, and that if

they aren't serious

enough, "spiritual" enough, or deep enough, that they are unacceptable.

Does not Amma appreciate, accept, and love the gifts of each of us, whether

they are full

renunciation of all our desires or a candied apple? Doesn't she love the

innocent

request for help with a test at school or with an audition, because she is

our mother, as

much as she loves the devotee that does intense tapas everyday?

What may not have spoken to you, or even to Omenka, could have spoken to

someone's

innocent heart here on this list. If it is not done with bad intention or

to make fun, I

see nothing wrong with the song's offering.

Blessings,

Achintya

Thumbs Down for "Bobbys Girl"

Dear Omenka:

It is inspirational to hear from a genuine sincere spiritual seeker like

Omenka. Everything she talked about about is familiar. I not only relate

to your post but have suffered and am suffering through a similar crisis.

Referring to the syrupy pre-pubescent teeny bopper tune "Bobby's Girl" is

somewhat callous.

We need to recognize the pain in these posts. Why belittle a sharing of

ones deep-seated struggles? This need to be a safe atmosphere for sharing.

After pouring my guts out will someone allude to a teen lament even lower

than Britney Spears?

Sincere Spiritual life is not easy. Can we respect each others pain?

I like to lighten up also. Pop songs for Amma occur to me as well. But

"Bobby's Girl?

"You're not a kid anymore?" This is an an injustice to Omenka.

"I wanna be Bobby's Girl?" The lyrics are even inappropriate as a spoof.

Are we pining after Amma as if enmeshed in the throes of teenage crush?

Why be so cavalier?

Hang in there Omenkaji.

Very Truly,

Son >>
