Om Namah Shivaya

Dear Devotees,

the story of my friend Ása, an Amma devotee, and her mantra :

Ása got a mantra from Amma.

One, or maybe two years later, Ása decided that she wanted a

mantra more closely connected to Amma.

That year ( maybe 1995), during Ása's Devi Bhava darshan she then

asked Amma if she could get a new mantra . Amma approved Ása's

request, and Ása went and sat and waited in line for a new mantra,

and Ása got a new mantra, and that is her mantra that she now uses.

Each devotee is an individual case, and I can only write what

happened to my friend.

In Amma's Love,

Sara J.

Namah Shivaya to all of Amma's children,

Could the desire for a new mantra be a product of the restless mind?

Could all mantras given by Amma be perfect? Could it be an act of

surrender to use that mantra with deep gratitude and love until Amma

sees the need to give us a new one?

Not wanting to offend, just questions that come to my mind.

Jai Ma!

It's my feeling that this is a possibility, but that it's not true for everyone.

There are so

many motivations that could lead to asking for a new mantra. Certainly, a

restless or

doubting mind is one. And certainly, a heart that yearns for Amma's name is

another.

Who of us knows why things happen the way that they do, or why Amma says yes to

one and no to another? We can just trust that She will grant us what we need --

which

may or may not change over the years...

Namaste, Iswariji,

And certainly, a heart that yearns for Amma's name is another.

I think this is an important consideration. From my personal experience, I

chant my mantra, which is not focused on Amma, with great love and devotion -

but the Divine Mother's name dances in my heart when I am silent and not

necessarily even focused on spiritual practice.

We can just trust that She will grant us what we need -- which may or may not

change over the years...

True - Amma Herself seemed to have a change of needs/focus when she "switched"

from Krishna to the Divine Mother (sorry for the rough wording here; language

fails too often in these matters!).

Love,

Snehalata
