Namah Shivaya,

Just to clarify: Amma was not heard saying this; it was on a flier handed out

before Devi Bhava in Rhode Island last year ( I was there ). It was an unusual

flier which no one could cofirm was printed by MA Center or any other satsang.

It didn't look like any other paperwork handed out. In other words, it is

currently hearsay.

Namah Shivayah,

I disagree that it's hearsay. I was there, too,

and was told by two different people high in the

organization that it was Amma's express wish that

this be handed out at that time.

Namah Shivaya,

I stand corrected - I was under the impression that people had been asked and no

one could confirm the veracity of the document.

Girija, one of our local devotees, asked Amma about this in Detroit last

November. Amma didn¹t deny that she had said it. She just said something to

the effect that ³due to good spiritual people like you (the questioner),

perhaps the cyclone will instead be a gentle breeze.²

BTW, a good friend of mine lives in Andrew Cohen¹s ashram and works on the

WIE magazine. He said that Andrew has a photo of Amma in his office, along

with photos of some other saints.

Namah Shivayah,

Was it only handed out in Rhode Island? That seems odd

to me. I don't recall them handing them out in Los

Angeles....

In any case, there's nothing wrong with praying for

peace! Lokah Samastah Sukhino Bhavantu!

Namah Shivayah,

Yes, only in Rhode Island, and yes, it seemed odd

to a lot of people.

Namah Shivaya

When I was in Amritapuri in September, somebody I know was there and

he told me of a rumor that had been told to him by a woman

acquantance suggesting some kind of prediction he claimed a New York

devotee said Amma had made. He said he wasn't sure of this as a fact

100%, but said the woman was very reliable. It was a pretty scary

prediction. This fellow told me he asked Swamini Krishnamritprana

about it and she said, "No, it's not true. Amma never said this. She

did, however, confirm that the Rhode Island statement was true and

that Amma had said this". Throughout our satsangs at Amritapuri

before the birthday, Amma would answer questions and say things to

the effect of, "catastrophes can be lessened and even averted if

people gather like this for world peace". Of course, this is very

much paraphrased. She also commented one day that people start all

kinds of rumors saying, "Amma has said this and that." I think it was

in reaction to a question a woman asked which was, "Amma, I've been

told that in a couple of years we will only be able to see you in

stadiums and that there will be no more hugging, etc. Amma, this

scares me very much." This is when Amma said that wasn't true and

that she would never stop hugging her children and that people start

all kinds of rumors. In San Ramon in November during one of swamiji's

early morning classes he commented on the R.I. prediction and said

somebody had asked Amma about it...that she really didn't say very

much except that as long as there are people like you in this world

everything will be alright (or something to this effect...anyone

remember this?)

Yes, and I heard in this an instruction: "Let us pray that the cyclone be

turned into a gentle breeze." Swami also corrected himself on the

translation too -- whether cyclone or storm.
