I have been meditating trying to feel the Sahasrara, Ajna, Vishuddhi, Anahata,

Manipura, Svadhistana, Muladhara. So far no luck yet. I can feel a throbbing

at the Vishuddhi, nothing more...

I have been reading a bit (see links below) trying to better understand our

chakras...(only a week so far)

I would like to hear of progress by others, I am seeking some inspiration.

Also, any personal recommendations /websites to help in the concentration and

awareness, should be helpful too.

I had a question that I had clarified at the session - that these techniques

would NOT be harmful and I was told that it will NOT be harmful. But I hear of

the perils of Kundalini shakti rising and I am a bit paranoid of this...any

suggesions will be helpful. Is it possible that we need to attain a high level

of behavior before these chakras start acknowledging themselves? At this time,

I am spiritually quite dense and I just wonder if someone like me could ever

achieve some progress, let alone enlightenment

Thanks,

SHIVA BHAKTA

Namaste,

I have not yet taken the course, so do not know what was/wasn't presented

there, but I did find a passage in "Amma, Healing the Heart of the World" where

Amma addresses this. Her exact quote is bit lengthy, so bear with me. This is

from pg.57 and 58:

"There are six chakras, or centers of spiritual power ib the human body. The

vital life force (Kundalini Shakti) that flows through all beings is called

seprent power, and it rests below the base of the spine in the form of a coiled,

sleeping female snake.

When this power is awakened, through incessant meditation, it ascends

through the spine, passing through the chakras. When each chakra is reached,

the physical body can suddenly become very hot, and the person may start to

sweat profusely. He or she may also have visions, both divine and earthly.

When the serpent power has transcended all six chakras, it rises to the top of

the head-to the crown chakra. At that moment, the body suddenly experiences a

refreshing coolness as it is transformed into a new vessel of tremndous

spiritual power."

The next segment of the book tells of a Christian mystic named Padre Pio who

became so hot during the transformation that his doctor had to use a horse

thermometer because the mercury simply blew out of the top of normal ones during

his transformation!

I don't know if this is what you were looking for, but hope it helps.

Thanks Manoj for this hint on the IAM technique:-). I will definitely

attend the IAM session. It appears to be very similar to Kriya(there

are around 5 or 6 kriyas around taught by various teachers, all of

which are very powerful).

In the AOY, Yogananda says that the performance of one Babaji Kriya

is equivalent to one year of ordinary meditation and I can certainly

attest to the veracity of this statement.

For chakras kundalini etc some references-

- several book by Satyananda Saraswati(Bihar School of Yoga, one of

the best references)

- There is quite an online collection at www.dlshq.org.

- the classic translation by Arthur Avalon of the Shatchakranirupama.

These are some outstanding books that come to mind.

Thank you, Yogaman, for making me feel worse than I already do. :).

I actually meant to convey the message to ShivaBhakta alone, but

ended up sending to the group.

Maybe this was Amma's way of attracting a larger audience to the

IAMs by 'tantalizing' with just that much info .... it seems to have

definitely worked in your case judging by your response.

Maybe she felt 'affronted' that Yogaman should have questions about

the IAM, so she sneaked in an answer using this (me) foolish and un-

alert medium .. LOL.

Maybe this is all true.

Shiva Bhakta,

Because our Amma is a true sadguru, she will protect you from the

perils and dangers you fear. There is a purification that takes place

with the IAM meditation technique. As the purification takes place,

you will progress as this process suits you best. Amma's way, I have

heard from the brahmachari who was conducting the backwaters boat

tour during Amritavarshan, is natural and gradual...really no sudden

jolts. If you do receive a jolt, chances are you can handle it. But

Amma's way is natural. We are all entering this training from

different levels of experience and perspectives, so chances are we

will have different experiences. If possible, I think it is good to

email your questions to the brahmachari in Amritapuri who corresponds

on matters of the IAM course. I think it is okay and sometimes very

welcome to talk to others who have already taken the course. Try to

minimize this practise, if possible. I'm not sure it is such a good

idea to do this in excess. Sometimes when we speak too openly and

publicly about our meditation experiences we can lose shakti in this

way...treat your experiences as sacred and don't talk excessively

about them or the shakti may dissipate...just some thoughts. Watch

and monitor your own progress quietly from within...don't broadcast

too much. If there are genuine questions, go to someone in a senior

position who can help you. Always honor the shakti and always honor

Amma's Shakti in this way. These are just some of my thoughts. You

may or may not agree. I have found that one who can hold quietly and

privately onto their meditation experiences can more easily hold onto

the experience in general.

Namah Shivaya Lisa,

These are some of the wisest words that i have come across in a while.. thanks

for the sentence 'Honor the Shakti and honor Amma's shakti ".

I sometimes tend to take Amma 'for granted'.. i dont know if this makes any

sense... thanks for the reminder to approach Amma and anything that comes from

Her with utmost reverence.

Namah Shivaya Lisa,

Your posting is so on the mark! Our individual spiritual experiences

are unique and precious. To share them cautiously, and appropriately

is our duty and challenge.

Thank you for helping us fine tune our satsang.

I think you did service by trying to remind all of us that

Manoj, sorry about that:-(. But your timely intervention gave the

message to a lot of other people who may have wanted to post details;

and also you really did not tell anything, other than this is a

genuine technique(from my standpoint). So if it makes you feel any

better, I am definitely attending IAM because of you:-).

On the contrary, you must feel proud that Mother picked you as her

messenger of all the 300 people on this list :-)
