Guest guest
Dear Sister: Thank you for sharing your hesitation. Please be assured that many in the group are imploring Amma to act as soothing balm this weekend. Sri Ramakrishna Paramahansa advised hold on to Gods hand with one hand and fight with the other. When I feel fearful I stick my right hand out. This works for me, at least. She can be the source of courage and I did not just read this in books. Guest guest
Namah Shivaya, I too just completed the IAM course this weekend. The course is great! As an answer to your questions- The technique taught so far is not complicated and it is easy to remember after a few days practice. I think this is a great spiritual boon from Amma and is a very powerful technique. I could feel a lot of peace during and after the practice. As an answer to Jyotsna's questions- The course takes 2.5 days- the first evening is an orientation. The actual course is taught on the second and third day- it is only half a day on the third day . They split up the practice in convenient sessions so that they can go over every detail. I felt the course was very well structured. The actual practice will take only half an hour and since Amma Herself is the creator behind this technique, it is a great spiritual blessing and I am grateful for being allowed to learn it. Yes there is a commitment to do it everyday. Just as there is a commitment to practice our mantra every day. Let us pray to Amma that we shall keep these commitments. bala ti <anumati_devi wrote: Namah Shivaya, Thank you, Omana, for sharing that information about IAM. As many of us on this list try to decide over the next few days and weeks whether or not to take the course, perhaps others can share similar details within their comfort allowances. Mostly, I am interested in whether it is complicated, or will be difficult to remember as time passes. Also whether there are any noticable effects for anyone yet. My own hesitation is that I don't know that I'll keep up the daily commitment. Would anyone care to speak to that issue? If I have doubts about my commitment, should I wait until the next round of classes? Guest guest
Namah Shivaya, brothers and sisters - I, too, just took the IAM course over the weekend, and also loved it. I would have loved to know who you others were there! I agree with what everyone has said about it. I also feel that it is very accessible and relatively simple to do, once you've had a few days practice. I am slowly getting it, although I still need to refer to the outline. Without saying anything specific about it, I think it is by far easier to do than just sitting still and trying to quiet the mind! I think it is a lovely balance between simplicity and profundity, that both is quieting for the mind/body as well as keeps the mind/body engaged and present. I also felt a difference in my energy during and afterwards. So far, I have been able to get up earlier the last two days to do my practice, with Amma's grace! I pray to her before I go to bed to help me wake up, as I have a tough time with getting up early (I'm aiming for between 5 and 5:45am, starting my practice at 6:15 to give me a little leeway). Thank you, Amma, for helping me! I also had the concern about being about to do it everyday. But it is enjoyable and not difficult, so I feel more comfortable and hopeful about that now. I just pray that Amma helps me to keep up the discipline, and I figure that it's good that I make this committment now to help me be more disciplined with my spiritual practice in general. The main thing that I think Amma wants is for each of us to make our best effort. If I mess up and don't practice it one day, then I'll do my best to just get up again the next day and get back on track. I'll just keep at it. So I third (or fourth!) the recommendations for the course, and I'm encouraging my husband to take it at the next course. I'm looking forward to us being able to do it together! Blessings, Achintya
