I decided to buy three photographs of Amma's feet. Being of european descent I commented to a devotee (I believe a native of Kerala) that it seemed peculiar that I a westerner was now buying pictures of my gurus feet. She smiled and said that means you are in Amma land now. What is Amma land? For me Amma land is identical to Jesus Land. Sri Ramakrishna once remarked all Jackals bark alike. All mystics (and Amma is perhaps the ultitimate prototype) say God is within. In todays Amritapuri web page the Amma saying read: God is deep within us. He dwells there as pure and innocent love. Jesus Christ as you all know said The Kingdom of God is within. So if my friends and family want to have me seek their Deity I prefer a deity that reigns within. The outward social trappings are in the empirical realm ie Maya. Amma is my Mother. Amma is my Father. Amma is my Sister. Amma is my only Friend. Love your Family/Friends as your Self. That is self with a Capital S. If they do not understand you perhaps view it as Avidya.
