Guest guest
Om Namah Shivaya, I am wondering if someone can recommend an asana to bring with me to India. I have a back injury and am not sure that I will be able to sit on the floor for long periods without some kind of lumbar support. I was contemplating buying a backjack but am not sure if this would be practical for use at the ashram and/or on tour. Thank you in advance for your advice:) With love, Kirsten
Guest guest
Dear Kirsten, I suppose it depends on what position works best for you. I find that the backjack rotates my hips back, which is uncomfortable for me. I am much more comfortable with my hips rotated forward, by sitting on a wedge that is low in the front and high in the back. Unfortunately I have not figured out how to make a portable back support for this, to rest my back against. Best of luck Prasadini khd5 wrote: > Om Namah Shivaya, > > I am wondering if someone can recommend an asana to bring with me to > India. Guest guest
You might want to check out the Nadachair - www.nadachair.com, in my opinion one of the best aids for keeping the spine erect especially if you are meditating for several hours and miles ahead of a backjack(buy both if you can). I am actually surprised that this is not as widely used as it should be and it is also very easy to carry around. -yogaman Ammachi, <khd5@c...> wrote: > Om Namah Shivaya, > > I am wondering if someone can recommend an asana to bring with me to India. Guest guest
Pictures of the god Ayyappan (whose popular temple is in Sabarimala, Kerala, India) show him sitting in a meditation pose with a Nadachair. Guest guest
Prasadini, Yogaman and Vallath, Thank you so much for responding to my inquiry! I've decided to purchase a Nada chair as it seems like it would be the best asana for long periods of meditation (for my back at any rate:). I am eager to try it out and very much appreciate your suggestions! Gratefully, Kirsten
Guest guest
Someone in Detroit had one of these. I tried it out and it was really comfortable: http://www.lotusseat.com/ on 12/18/03 7:04 PM, khd5 at khd5 wrote: > Om Namah Shivaya, > > I am wondering if someone can recommend an asana to bring with me to India. Guest guest
LOL. We should have the Sabarimala temple sue nadachair.com for patent infringement:-) -yogaman Ammachi, "vallathnkumar" <vallathn@h...> wrote: > > Pictures of the god Ayyappan (whose popular temple is in > Sabarimala, Kerala, India) show him sitting in a meditation > pose with a Nadachair. > > Vallath >
