Which planets are Rahu and Ketu? Are they referring to Uranus, Neptune and/or Pluto?? Pluto wasn't even "discovered" in the west until 1930, while they knew there were Nau Graha (nine planets) in Vedic times. > anyways, if you are interested in such a reading, > please contact me > at my email address with the required information... > date of birth, time of birth, and place of birth OK, I'll bite! Guest guest
Namah Sivayah, Rahu and Ketu are not planets, but nodes of the moon in western astrology. Rahu, I believe, is known as the head of the dragon and Ketu is its tail. Both are considered malefic in Vedic astrology as I understand it. Amma has Rahu in her 4th house (house of the mother) in her natal chart. Guest guest
In more practical terms, correct me if I'm wrong: Rahu and Ketu are the nothern and southern "paths" of the moon and affect other planets where that intersects other planet's paths. Rahu and Ketu usually affect the Sun (divinty) or Moon (the mind) the most because they revealed their deception when Rahu/Ketu stood in line with the gods to receive amritam. Rahu and Ketu's afflictions many times include "enemies", but do have other influences, with Rahu being passion/desires and Ketu being "loss of face" (ie, embarrassment through situations or diseases). Rahu is a head and Ketu a headless torso. Ammachi, "E. Lamb" <jyotsna2> wrote: > Namah Sivayah, > > Rahu and Ketu are not planets, but nodes of the > moon in western astrology. Rahu & Ketu are actually points where the moon's path crosses the ecliptic (the plane of earth's orbit around the sun). Eclipses happen when Rahu and Ketu are in a straight line with the earth and the sun -- in Hindu astrology, Rahu and Ketu are said to swallow the sun or moon, I believe. In between the actual crossings, perhaps the position of R and K are determined by dropping a perpendicular from the moon to the ecliptic -- I don't know for sure. By the way, modern Vedic astrology sometimes does take into account Uranus etc. Rahu is more malefic than Ketu. Nandu
