Now it is true that the "refining" process is a painful one, as Mother strips away all of what one thought one needed for a "good" life, but which one doesn't REALLY need in the same way we thought. (which Jesus taught us actually, so long ago): "O Lord, not mine but Thy will be done." Another powerful prayer, which Amma teaches us is: "O My Mother, please Shower Your Grace upon this little child of yours, such that s/he may always live entirely according to YOUR will."..... While these prayers are NOT directed towards changing the challenging events in your life, they ARE directed towards changing one's own attitude TOWARDS the challenging events, to see that whatever comes to us is the Grace of God, and that whatever is taken from us, that too, is the Grace of God, and is really for our own spiritual growth, and eventual benefit, even if it seems really painful right now. The purpose of all this pain, as far as i can tell, dear sister, is to make us tune into God...into Mother...in prayer, and longing, and most essential...SURRENDER... This is the real renunciation as taught by our dearest Amma...to accept whatever comes with "yes"...and to accept whatever goes, too, with "yes" rather than resisting and making even more trouble for oneself...it is also very helpful to actually pray intensely to Amma and ask Her for Guidance... just behave like the naughty two year old that she sees you as....and cry, cry, cry, for Her help, and Her Loving Guidance...if you NEVER give up crying out to our Mother, She will HAVE to run from Her Cosmic Kitchen, where She is cooking up supper for Her Lord Siva, and pick up Her squalling little baby...holding her tightly against the Maternal Bosom, hugging and kissing Her little Darling, until the little one ceases to yell and scream so painfully, and the sobs slowly subside into a few sighs and hiccups....but you have to NEVER give up calling Her until you feel Her answering you...and may i tell you dear sister, that just as Paramahansa Yogananda insisted, if we call our Mother and Never give up...She will answer...She will come for us, and we will feel Her loving presence in our hearts, and in the strange ways that events unfold, such that what may have seemed to be major negative challenges, turns out in a backward sort of way to be the blessings for which we have been praying!..and we SEE that!! i say this from my own experience of Her answering MY prayers... So dear sister, although i am only a student of Jyotish (vedic astrology), if you want me to, i would be willing to check out your birthchart, and transits, to see if there is anything obvious sticking out, which i can see and work with...Often when one is going thru the kinds of problems which you are experiencing, one might be experiencing a troublesome transit effect of Lord Saturn, Lord Mars, or of Rahu/Ketu...When those planets move into a sensitive house or sign, it can spell troubles for the native...the worst kind appears often when Saturn is transitting over the Natal Moon, which is calculated to be in effect for about 7 1/2 years...and which can be VERY challenging to the native...i speak here from my own experiences..... Amma Herself promotes the growth of Jyotish, and Herself has suggested just those things above which i mentioned in reference to the troublesome effects of some planetary transits...Mother has seen this in all the millions of folks who have come to Her for help...She has in response to this need, created the Brahmasthanam temples, and too, has strongly supported the spread of the Jyotirvidya (wisdom of vedic astrology)...She Herself speaks in Jyotish terms, when describing the difficulties which we all face in our lives at times. anyways, if you are interested in such a reading, please contact me at my email address with the required information... date of birth, time of birth, and place of birth (latitude and longitude also might be helpful, for one of the programs, but unnecessary for the Goravani Jyotish program... In reference to the time of birth it is important to be as accurate as possible, because we Jyotishis use that information to calculate many of our charts and reports...in Jyotish it is considered more important to know what our Rising sign (ascendant or lagna) and our Moon Sign (especially the "mansion" of the Moon, or Nakshatra in vedic terms), than to know what the sun sign is... many good wishes for things to work out well for you dear sister... in Amma's Divine Love, and in Her Service, as ever, your own Self, visvanathan Om Amrtesvaryai Namah!! Guest guest
Namaste Sister, Thank you so much for such a wonderful letter. A few weeks back I was at a point where I was very emotional. And all of a sudden a vision of Amma come up to me and started to coddle me and rock me and tell me things (can't remember what) just cooing in my ear. It was very strong. And then it vanished. I guess it was her way of telling me she is always here for me. I have had someone else on this group suggest that I might be going through the seven year event also. I would think that likely as Ive had a lot of bad luck for the past two or three. I would like you to read my chart for me that would be great and I have always wanted to do this. Its funny that you should ask it. I will have to double check with my mother before you start on this with the time, but I believe it was 10:31am in the morning of Blythville, Arkansas, Blythville Air force Base. I will find out and email you the time to make sure. I appreciate your kindness. Thank you for your encouragement. It helps to blow off steam and have prayers sent my way. Guest guest
Namaste Brother!! How embarrassing, I'm so sorry. You wouldn't be the first. Yes I did forget to give you those important days. (Long day at work) My Birthday is September 19, 1974. And although I will still find out as soon as possible to double check the time. I will answer the questions so that you can still compare and make sure it is going along with the charts in the correct way. Lets see, I was Married on the day of May 13, 1995. My kids births were: Aliyah November 11, 1996 10:15pm, Hannah July 16, 1998 (not sure on her time but I think it was 2:29pm). My parents (thank God!) are still with me. Although after 29 years have just moved to Texas this past month, leaving me feeling "abandoned" and bit scared to be on my own. I am not "officially" divorced just yet, but the papers should be ready pretty much within in a month. I can't think off hand of anymore significant events , so if you have anymore or need anymore just send me some suggestions and Ill do the best I can. I do remember the year before last in the summer of 2002 (there abouts) to December I had been in three wrecks. And I believe a speeding ticket, lost my license etc. (No I'm not a bad driver, I still don't know what was going on at the time) that is when my bad luck started. Then I moved in with my parents because my ex and I were splitting up. It was just really horrible. It was one of the worst year of my life 2002. Lets just hope it was the last. Right now My daughter is my main concern and I'm having alot of problems with behavior etc. She is ADHD and I refuse to put her on medication. I can never get ahead financially and its such a struggle right now. I just want to know will there ever be a time in my life were I am comfortable, not rich, just able to pay my bills and have a few dollars to spare afterwords. I want to live in a nice neighborhood, without rapists, dealers, and thieves. I want a nice little house, nothing big. I want a car that I know is going to make it to the next day and not have to stress out about it. I want to share my life with someone, to have someone to come home too and just sit with and talk about my day. I know these things are very selfish. And at times I am angry with Amma. I refuse to ask her for any of these things. It just wouldn't be right. I feel such enormous guilt just writing this out. Right now I focus on my daughter, what can I do with her, I scream out to Amma WHY is she like this, what do you want me to do, do you WANT me to drug this child?!? I feel so helpless with her right now, that all the little things and big things start to overwhelm me (usually when I end up writing for prayers). I focus on weather I will be living in this place another month and where the rent money is going to come from. Will my car make it another day. Can I pay this bill or that. I'm sorry for going on. I've never told anyone most of these things. I'm guessing its therapeutic as I am in complete tears at this point. But I feel better to get it out. And I know that I am not the only one with problems on this list or even in this world. I think about all the people that are worst than me, the homeless, the hungry. I just feel tired mind, body, and soul. I feel that I am at a loss. Any help you can give will be taken with gratitude. Thank you. Guest guest
- Robin Wilson Ammachi Saturday, November 08, 2003 9:56 AM Re: Re: difficult times Dear Sister, As you know, I'm a school teacher and still suggest that you follow your heart about Hannah - but please check your heart and be sure that Hannah's good is coming first. I only say this because I was horrified when my 30 year old daughter had to go on anti-depressants - I went thru every "How could this happen?" fit with God I that exists, including assuming it was somehow a reflection of my motherhood (I went thru a traumatic divorce, too and know what toll it takes on kids). When I finally wore God and my knees out, I realized I hadn't considered what my daughter truly needed and was horribly ashamed of myself. I'm not suggesting that's so with you because I don't even really know you, but Robin, from a teacher's perspective, a true ADHD child may well need medication simply to soothe them and to allow them to function "normally." In those cases, it isn't an unkindness and they don't turn into zombies - they simply have a better chance of being happy, successful, and on better terms with their peers. A child with ADHD is a child with a health problem -nothing more, nothing less. But, realistically, unmedicated, they spend their days in trouble at school and can develop peer difficulties because their disruptiveness keeps everyone on edge. And, of course, that's not even focusing on what it does to the education received by the rest of the class when so much time is given to helping the ADHD child cope. So, please, examine seriously why you won't try medication at least for a brief span. I really dislike the idea myself in most cases, but Robin, if the diagnosis is correct, from the classroom perspective, I wouldn't want to see a child with untreated ADHD in my room any more than I would want to see a child go without treatment for severe allergies sneeze, sniff, and cough her way thru her days. If I had a spare penny to send, I would mail it your way; please just know that I include you in my prayers countless times per day and send you mental love even more often. I went thru a similar span and had to hear my son complain that he didn't want peas and bread for dinner, knowing that the next night's dinner might not even include peas. Your situation makes me weep right along with you. Holding us both at Mother's feet, Snehalata Namaste Brother!! How embarrasing, Im so sorry. You wouldnt be the first. Guest guest
Om Amrtesvaryai Namah!! Namaste dear sister!! we trust and pray, dear sister, that Amma is blessing you and protecting you always, and that your troubles will soon be passing! dear sister, thank you so much for all that information you sent me. it appears that you are going through VERY difficult times right now, and looking at your chart one can see that you are passing through a vimshottari dasha period which is ruled by Saturn (for the Mahadasha) Mars for the subperiod(Bhukti) and Jupiter for the sub-sub period (Antaradasha)...this indicates that one should look to the transit effects of those three particular Grahas (planets)...in other words what are Saturn, Mars and Jupiter doing in both your birth chart and in the current transit chart... Now, Saturn is lord of the 4th and 5th houses, so we can expect his transitory effects to be relevant to home, heart, house, cars, mother, general happiness....and the 5th is relevant to children, and creative efforts, as well as issues related to the initiation by a Sat Guru, as well as it indicates the "purva janma punya" the previous lives' merits which we are bringing into this one, as well as romance issues. You have Jupiter which is a natural indicator for children (as well as spouse for women) and is lord of the 3rd and 6th houses in that 5th house of children, aspected by Venus 7-7 from Leo...Since Jupiter is natural indicator for children i would suggest from his lordship of the 6th, that this may be an indicator for the difficulties which your daughter is facing...as the 6th house indicates diseases and enemies, and debts as well as more distant relatives, and things that get better over time. Right now, and for quite a while, Mars has been in that 5th house, of children, Aquarius, and he has been sitting beside that natal Jupiter of yours...and looking at the Venus in Leo.. Jupiter and Venus can indicate your two daughters, and Mars aspecting them like this can indicate difficulties with them...especially think about what Mars represents....lively spontaneous energetic approach to life, with not much patience, and little ability to concentrate for long upon anything...also can indicate a fiery temper, at least for that period in which he is aspecting your natal Jupiter and Venus...Venus not only stands for one of your children but also for YOU because it is the ruler of your rising sign (ascendant) Libra, in which you have Moon right beside your ascendant....this makes you a very Venusian kind of person, who is currently quite badly afflicted by Mars because of his transitting position... Unfortunately, in your natal chart, dear sister, one can find Mars, who is lord of the 7th (for husbands, and partners) in the 12th, Virgo, which in Jyotish is considered to be a major Kuja Dosha...which means Mars affliction...this Kuja dosha is what is to blame for the failure of your marriage dear sister...because one who has such a Kuja dosha will be unable to have a successful marriage when one is young. However, once you reach the age of 28, the Kuja Dosha will cease to have nearly as great an effect, because Mars is a YOUNG person, and his rulership ends at age 28. It can even mean danger to the spouse if one marries before the age of 28...however, as you are now PAST that age, the Kuja dosha should cease to have as much effect...however because of where Mars is right now, in your fifth house, he has been giving lots of troubles to children, and to the romantic part of your life...(husband)...as well as possibly making you feel a little frazzled and cut off from Amma (5th is also initiating Guru) because you are in that Saturn Mars Jupiter period, whatever Mars is doing will be doubled in effect upon your life, BECAUSE he is the ruler of the subperiod of your current life...and because he is not really a friend to your lagnesa (Venus) He will always represent some trouble, mostly when he is also ruling one of the Vimshottari Dashas (the life periods) However we cannot rule out Saturn, because of His rulerships of the the Mahadashas and Antaradashas (Major and minor lifeperiods), as well as of the 4th and 5th houses, and too, his current placement in your 9th house of Guru (giving you a Saturn Return, since he was in that 9th house when you were born)... What i would suggest is that this troubled period will ease off somewhat, as Mars moves out of the 5th house into your sixth house sometime around December 6 of this year and perhaps your ex husband will be able to find a job when Mars moves into Aries sometime in late February, around the 23rd... you should be able to look forward to some relief about that time or sometime thereafter...and perhaps, too, your ADHD child may be able to be a little less "speedy" after that time...perhaps you will find a way to deal with her such that it won't be such an issue as it has been...perhaps you will find something that will work, or you may decide finally to go the medication route, as Dixie Thacker, a teacher, suggested...(i am NOT suggesting that you should or should NOT do it, but only the possibilities.) However, just to be certain of reducing Mars'negative influences, i might suggest that you could abstain from wearing red clothes, or red jewels...and that you might be able to observe Tuesdays, as that is the day ruled by Mars...on that day you might do some extra prayers to Mother in the form of Durga (warrior goddess), you might abstain from all meat products, or even fast that day if you feel able...if you are working, of course, then you should adjust somewhat for that. My darling wife, (who also has the same Kuja dosha as you and also had lots of troubles with her ex-"partner to be" at the time) tells me that what really helped her was to chant a Mantra every day 108 times, and whenever she felt agitated and depressed...the Mantra which she used was a Visnu mantra which goes as: Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya Mahapurushaya Namo Namah! this mantra gave her lots of peace, and even would help her to get along better with her fiance of the period... What also really helped her was LOTS of prayers to Amma, and being very humble, asking Amma what She wants for her daughter to do. Because of Saturn being involved as ruler of the 4th and 5th, and in the 9th in your birth chart (as well as transit wise now), i would suggest that your Guru has a LOT to do with your current troubles too, in that She is probably trying to clean up your life for you, by removing all the things which She thinks you don't need, and throughHer methods of "refining" turning the raw ore of Robin into the Pure Gold of who Robin COULD be... in my opinion, the best to do is to understand that we are not here in life for all the good things that we can have, but rather to realise WHY we are here, and to SERVE Mother's children in the best way that we can. We who are her children, and her students, have the responsibility to see that whatever is happening to us is really Her Grace, whether positive or negative. Thus the BEST approach to all this is true SURRENDER to the will of the Guru...to just say YES to life, in whatever way that you can, as life brings you all of these experiences. Once you have developed the true attitude of renunciation necessary for a spiritual aspirant, then the circumstances around you will change to give you NEW lessons, whatever will be needed at that time.but as long as we have not learned the lessons of the experiences we go through, Mother will just keep giving us more of them...until we learn some equanamity, and some dispassion, and so on...right now it seems to you cruel what our Mother is teaching you, but after some time, dear sister you will understand that whatever Mother has put you through was absolutely NECESSARY for your spiritual growth...it served to widen the mind, and open the heart, as well as encourage the growth of true humility.. Until we have learned that AMMA is the one in charge, and that we should strive only to do what is Her will for us, until that time, she will drag us through some pretty difficult experiences...but as Swami Sivananda used to say....God tests most severely those whom He wishes to bless....if we have that attitude then those tests will not be seen as so negative, but rather as the tests that they are...to see just how much Amma's child has grown. So i would suggest that this difficult period in your life will pass off in sometime, but it could be easier for you if you dedicate yourself to attempting to live a completely dharmic life, and with humility serve the lowly, the poor, the elderly and so on...this period of difficulty i would suggest is a gift to you from your SatGuru, Amma, in which she is inviting you to burn off all those past bad karmas NOW, rather than in some future lives... Amma would say that a true spiritual aspirant doesn't even care what his chart looks like, or what the transits and so on are doing...He will just accept everything that comes as the will of his Beloved Deity, and will just say YES to life, no matter what it is bringing...the rest of us, even though we may not be able to be so one pointed about it all, we can still AIM in that direction as much as possible, and keep trying over and over to live as much as possible in the consciousness of "not i, but THOU o Lord, not mine but THINE"....trying to see everyone and everything which comes to us as a manifestation of our beloved deity which is provided for our own good and for our growth to be adorable, that we may eventually merge in the Sacred Om as Amma says. that's about all i can come up with for right now...i gotta go, as we and some of our satsang are going to perform a Puja for Mother this afternoon, during the eclipse. May Mother bless and protect you always dear sister... in Mother's Divine Love, and in Her Service, as ever, your own brother, visvanathan Om Amrtesvaryai Namah! Guest guest
Namaste Brother, Thank you so much for all the information you have giving me. It is very touching at the response I get from my family. I hold all of you dear and your all in my prayers as well. I know that my faults are "ordinary" but I just can't help feeling that it is still selfishness on my part when I have so much and others have so little. It seems that everytime I get very serious in my path (almost to the point of becoming celibate and joining an ashram) something gets in the way and it all falls away. This has always happened to me being on my path. I have just never been this serious about it until the past two years. I know that it is our ego that does not want to be diminished so it fights back...I just have a hard time defeating it. Hopefully (with your prayers) I will get back on track once again and feel that I am in control of my life. All my love.
