Reminder: The Purpose of the Ammachi List

May I remind every one of the Purpose of the Ammachi List and why it was

created?

 

The List was created, with Ammachi's permission, to provide a means by which

Amma's followers may stay connected with other Amma people world wide, to

share their love for Ammachi and each other. It is a means to further each

person's Spiritual Growth in Amma. The List is for Amma people.

 

The List has seen many people join it, not with this purpose in mind, but to

prompt their own personal interests, advertise commercial products and

services and even promote so called "Adult" web sites. It has also seen the

development of discussions that have made unfounded allegations towards other

Gurus,

their organizations and spiritual paths. In short, topics that have nothing to

do with love for Amma.

 

In the latter category, we have had two major topics regarding

unsubstantiated allegations toward Sai Baba. Both of these discussions created

considerable

discontent and bad feelings. I will admit, I was slow to react to closing

these topics thinking they would blow over in a day or so. They did not. The

matter got worst and did not end until I closed the topic and sent several

private

emails requesting them to stop.

 

Meanwhile, I saw many loving Amma persons who had made significant

contributions to the List - because the topics were so painful.

These were

the very people this List is intended for.

 

Since August 16th, there have been three topics that have followed a similar

pattern with unsubstantiated allegations. Only this time, they were directed

towards Amma, those in Her service and organizations and Her followers. The

topics included the Ammachi organization is a "cult", questionable finances and

radioactivity effecting residents at Her Ashram in Amritapuri. None of the

discussions have been based on any substantiated facts. Only rumors and

unfounded

personal opinions by those who have no direct evolvement in these areas.

 

The enhanced guidelines of the List was put forth on September 5th for

comments. A number of people gave a favorable response to them. Only one person

objected to a "no criticism of Amma" restriction - despite the fact that none

of

the guidelines made any reference to "criticism". None of the restrictions was

anything new, except one, which prohibited making posts on behalf of another

person.

 

We are here to share our Hearts in Amma's Love.

 

This List is not for people who show disrespect, ridicule or discredit Amma,

those in Her service and organizations, Her followers including Amma people on

this List or any other Guru or Spiritual Path. Nor is this List for prompting

false rumors, spreading fear and unsubstantiated allegations. There are other

lists which engage in those types of discussions.
