Right now is the nine-day festival for Sri Ganesa Chaturthi, and I am

looking at the pamphlet which came from the Hindu Temple Society of North

America, NY which is the organization behind our Flushing temple for

Ganesh (Sri Maha Vallabha Ganapati Devasthanam). Tomorrow, Saturday, is

the big day, and Sunday there will be a parade (Grand Ratha Yatra) that

will be wonderfully joyous. I don't know if it is too late to sponsor

pujas, but more information about the festival and Ganapati's temple can

be found www.nyganeshtemple.org

I really love Ganesha, and just thinking about finding this info. for you

Brianna has been an amazing exercise in remembering some of His leelas

with me. And isn't it amazing when you dream or have other experiences

around notable dates? I didn't know it was Janmashthami but I found

myself laughing this little laugh and responding to a bhajan tape with,

uh, unusual joy. :)

About Amma's constant presence, especially when we need her hand during a

scary thing like surgery, Ramakrishna Swami shared a story at the RI

retreat morning talk about having knee surgery in San Ramon maybe a year

or two ago. And he was very nervous about it so he called Amma on the

phone in India to ask her to be with him tomorrow. She kind of laughed

that she was always with him, and said something like What are you talking

about? I am not separate from you. Swami related how this answer was not

very satisfying, and he got a little angry with Mother saying "Now is not

the time for vedanta! Will you promise to be with me tomorrow during the

surgery?" I think she repeated the cryptic, or laughed. And then when he

called Her after the surgery, which didn't hurt nearly as much as he

expected, She told him how she held his knee and did this and did that and

then explained more about the illusion of separateness saying: "I am not

different from You. You are in Me and I am in You." (this is from

memory, my notes are note right nere) When Swami said this part, he got

very quiet, and to me it seemed like the whole room took a giant breath of

awe. Talk about humbling!

I pray your teeth were caressed by the loving hands of Mother herself,

Robin, and that your five-year old's stress is identified properly.

Flower essences can also support transition, like Walnut is really good

for big change like Kindergarten! I myself wanted to drop out of

Kindergarten, but I think it was as much because my mom went back to work

part-time and my younger sister thus got to spend the mornings with our

loving grandmother while I had to jockey for milk and cookies and take

naps with all these strangers and color in the lines and make my letters

straight and all that. It was very traumatic! :)

You might also check her chart. The Mars transit is pushing a lot of

buttons, especially lined up against Uranus. My stepson has his ascendant

at the new moon spot of a few days ago, and Mars transiting his natal

moon, and the world just feels like a crucible for him right now.

Jaya Ganesha Jaya Ganesha Jaya Ganesha Deva!!!

love, Prashanti

I remember reading recently in a translation of LS that Ganesh was formed

when Devi glanced at Shiva.

Jai Ganeshji.
