One goal, at least for me (and a few others here), is to learn from other people experiences so we can walk our path a bit more efficiently and safely. This is why some were curious about Gayatri's experiences. Lets not forget this recommendation from Patanjaii: ---- Vitaraga visayam va cittam We can learn from others who have been through similar suffering but are out of it. Their experiences might throw light on how we can function so that we do not undergo similar suffering. ---- A mail list, is a place to exchange ideas (thoughts), we also should practice selective reading of posts with the goal of allowing other exchange views that might not be of interest to some, but important to others. One idea is to include a label in the subject of emails that could have the potential of being called "off topic" so they can pass with out having a single person determine what is "on topic" or not. Examples, [Political], [Ecology], [Web Link], [Announcement], [sPAM], [Controversial], etc. This way, if someone (like a few here) thinks that that they might be offended by the post or just simply not care about the subject, can just delete it while still allowing others to receive feed back from other brothers and sisters in Amma. It is very important to know one's strengths whether they are virutes like courage or talents such as ___(fill in the blank)___. It is important to know these and tell the truth about them to oneself and others, not pretending that Mother put you on earth with no provision for your success. It is equally important to know clearly what one's faults are and what the dark side of anything on this earth is. Earth is a mixed exerience, don't they say? It is not perfect here. There will always be imperfections and sometimes difficult challenges occurring in cycles. A wise person once told me that the secret of a successful life is to schedule one's days so that one's strengths are in play as much as possible. Then there isn't any time left to display one's weaknesses. That seems a good formula whether in education, business, communty relations or spirituality. The stoires of others can be interesting and sometimes instructive. Compared to simplistic black and white rules, stories provide much more of the grays we all deal with when making our decisions. My ayurvedic doctor commented once that Americans want everything to be good and light all the time and thus are often crushed when the wheel turns. He said, "If I drive, there is a chance that I will have an accident. That comes along with driving the car. I should not be shattered if it happens." Perhaps remembering the dark side can encourage caution.
