Guest guest
Guru is Brahma, Guru is Vishnu, Guru is Maheshvara Guru is the Eternal Witnessing Supreme Brahman, Therefore, Salutations to the Guru! (my personal translation) Once when I was complaining to a devotee about not receiving Amma's grace for my problems, she chided me for praying to a guru (remover of ignorance) instead of praying to God. I guess this is why Amma advocates planetary appeasement. Part of the problem are devotees who tell of miracle stories. The same thing happened when I first learned of Satya Sai Baba years ago... People would give you the "sell" of how he can speak any language, and how you should just open your heart and pray to him and grace will follow. However, I learned that while the satguru is God, and you should seek union with God, not union with guru, that the lady was right: A guru may grant special graces for daily problems, but their goal is to remove your ego. Sometimes this requires building your faith through boons here and there. Devotion to a true guru will save you, but not always in the way we'd like, keeping in mind their ultimate goal for you. tom
