Once Sugunanandan Achchan (Amma's Father) was playing around in the front yard.-this was when he was a young man-this was in the other property, that is ,where the ashram is now, not on the ocean side. They had these two properties. He was playing with a friend of his, they were climbing a cashew tree and one Sanyasi came, and he stood there on the property and started laughing and laughing and laughing. He was laughing, and Achchan asked him, "Why are you laughing? Are you making fun of us?" Then he said, "No, I am laughing because I feel so blissful here. This is a holy place, and under this earth, so many tombs are there of holy people- so many sanyasis have been buried under here. There must have been an ashram here long ago." And then he just left the place. And Mother said that it is so- that under the present ashram, Mother's previous ashram from her previous existence was there. This is one of the reasons we feel so much peace and bliss in the ashram. Of course, its mainly because Mother has been living there Her whole life, and so many sadhaks are doing so much sadhana but another reason is that has accumulated from even before, a long time before.
