Sat Nam Lyn,

Haritaki is used as a detoxification and rejuvenation for Vata constitution

or imbalance. It removes excess Vata from the system, assists natural, internal

cleansing, nourishes and rejuvenates the tissues, and promotes healthy

digestion and absorption. It is highly revered in Ayurveda for its natural

ability

to increase energy, intelligence, and awareness. It is one of the three main

ingredients in triphala (three fruits) which is a mainstay in Ayurvedic

medicine. A day without triphala is like a day without sunshine! :)

Blessings for health,

Thanks, Rebecca, for the additional info.

And, Pradeep, you may also want to try washing

your face and over the eyes with salt-water

quite often throughout the day. You can rinse

your face with plain water after a few minutes.

Eyes are made up of 95% water!! The signs

of dehydration is therefore very easily felt in the

eyes.

When the eyes feel hot, tired, itchy, sticky, red ..

one needs more water. Of course, there are other

nutritional needs that need to be met to keep

eyes healthy and the rest of the body healthy too.

But, water, is a huge factor in setting right any

problem. What I would suggest is to go for

a multi-pronged strategy in dealing with this problem.

Healing takes time and patience.

Try

1) Washing with salt-water as often as possible,

even before the next session of itching is about to

start. You can notice this onset of

stickiness/itchiness coming if you just allow

yourself to feel the way your eyes feel now and then.

2) Try sipping lots of water throughout the day.

3) Try the facial exercises I had mailed earlier, to

improve blood circulation.

4) When you get the kadukkai powder, you might

also want to try drinking a glass of buttermilk/yogurt

with a few spoons of the powder

in it, on an empty stomach. This can help a lot in

reducing the excess heat from the body. I have a

feeling that the stickiness in blepharitis arises

due to lot of heat in the eye region ( because of

lack of blood circulation/dehydration/lack of

nutrition ..). The body probably produces the sticky

substance more as a sort of lubrication to the eyes

( it would have been watery tears if there was more

water in the body).

5) You might want to look into nutritional intake,

and a lot of greens to your diet.

Try to feel how the eyes feel when you do each of the

above steps. You may probably find more solutions

to your problem with this exercise. One can do a lot

to help oneself, than many doctors out there.

Hope this helps.
