Vedic scholar passes away

Puri, March 21 : Pandit Baidyanath Mishra Sharma, working president

of the Mukti Mandap Pandit Sabha, the top policy making body of the

Sri Jagannath Temple, passed away at the district headquarters

hospital here today.

 

Mishra Sharma (92) is survived by a son and four daughters.

 

A former professor of the Sri Jagannath Sanskrit University here, he was

a vedic scholar and was decorated with awards like Vedantacharya,

Sahityacharya, Vedanta Bisarada and Vedanta Bachaspati.

 

Mishra Sharma, who was ailing briefly, was admitted into the hospital

yesterday and breathed his last today.

 

His mortal remains were consigned to flames at the Swargadwar

burning ghat on the sea shore.

 

Speaker of the Orissa Assembly Maheswar Mohanty has deeply

condoled the demise of Mishra Sharma.
