It is also a great oppurtunity for the Hindu Community to network with scholars and admirers of India in Latin America. Upon the success of this conferance, future events will be arranged in the rest of Latin America. I wish to inform you that Shree Arganis and I had a great conversation yesterday evening and touched on all important issues related to the above Conference and outside delegates. Here are topics we discussed: I. Ground Transportation from the Airport to El Saltillo (the conference town): Monterey Airport is about 50 miles from El Saltillo and there are plenty of public and private transportation. It takes about 1 1/2 hours on the highway from Monterey Airport to El Saltillo City Center. ElSaltillo is a small College-town and has a very tranquil environment with friendly local population. Shree Arganis offered to help us the delegates with a guide and a van...to help us with the trip to El Saltillo, provided we arrive as a group and not individually. In addition, the guide will take us to the Sri Krishna Temple in Monterey for a Prasad before leaving for El Saltillo. This will give us an opportunity to look at Hindu temples in Mexico. II. Hotel Etc. El Saltillo being a small university town, is also a very low-cost city. Shree Arganis suggested that we should book the Hotel closest to the Krishna Temple in El Saltillo and that would provide us opportunity to pray at the Temple and have Prasad each day of our stay. From this Hotel the University Conference hall is just a few minutes and can be reached anytime by taxi, buses etc. - a very inexpensive transportation. Shree Arganis will send me the Name, Address of the Hotel, and I have to send a LIST with Names of Delegates so that he can make RESERVATIONS at a reduced price/person. I have accepted his assistance. So, we need to forward to him names of delegates. The Hotel rate is about $30/night/room. III. Delegates from India Since Indian Passport holders need A Visitor's VISA from Mexican Embassy in New Delhi, Shree Arganis & Conf. Organizers have agreed to help in the matter. If we can forward Names, Addresses of such Non-US citizens from India or other nations, I can forward them to Shree Arganis who in turn will write directly Mexican Embassy requesting "quick" issue of VISAS. So, please spread the word to all those who are suer to come from India. We will also request Hotel Reservations for them at a discounted rate. Hope the above will help you to formalize and will help those delegates. They MUST act soon, since hotel reservations is best when done at least 30-40 days early. Since there are no DIRECT Flight from India to Mexico, I suggest Indian travelers take the following route: ** Fly DIRECT NON-STOP from India to US...and then connect Flights to Monterey, Mexico - by Continental. Continental, as you recall has many flights. Arriving at Mexico City (the capital) and then connect to Monterey is chaotic. That's all for today...and please contact me if I can help in any way. I will be sending this detail to those whom I have contacted early...for their FINAL decision about attending this Conference. Have you informed many potential candidates for this conference thru various websites? Namaste... Kumar Bhattacharjee IEFAC Convocation The Institute of Philosophical Studies A.
