Encourage research in Vedas —Bhairon Singh Shekhawat

FOC

"Our Vedas and ancient books are full of knowledge and science. In

fact the original source of science are the Vedas. The knowledge

existed in the ancient books and the Vedas is still relevant in this

modern age too and there is a dire need to encourage research in

it," said Vice President Shri Bhairon Singh Shekhawat. He was

releasing a book, Drishtvya Jagat ka Yathartha, authored by Shri Om

Prakash Pandey and published by Prabhat Prakashan, New Delhi at his

residence recently. The book is in two volumes. The introduction of

the first volume has been written by Dr Karan Singh while Dr L.M.

Singhavi has written the introduction of the second volume. Prof.

Vidyaniwas Mishra has evaluated both the volumes.

Shri Shekhawat said it was wrong to ignore the knowledge existed in

ancient books by terming them just a myth. "There is a need of

serious discussion among scholars on the beliefs and knowledge

mentioned in the Vedas and other ancient books like Puranas and

Upnashidas. The conclusions of the discussion should be

scientifically explained," he said, further adding there should be

no prejudice regarding knowledge and science.

Presiding over the function, Dr Murli Manohar Joshi, former HRD

Minister, said the book would help in understanding the tatva that

explains the whole universe. Enumerating on the relations between

the Vedas and the physics he said the reality (yathartha) of the

universe cannot be seen rather it needs to be felt. He said the

world is seen as one sees it.

In his message from Nagpur, Shri Mohan Bhagwat, RSS Sarkaryavah,

said the book is a sincere effort to propagate the greatness of our

centuries old culture with proper interpretation in today's

perspective. Speaking on the occasion Dr L.M. Singhvi said we should

recognise our roots and strengthen them. He said people start

working dharma and culture after assuming power. Introducing the

books Dr Kanhaiylal Nandan, noted literary person, said the two

volumes would pave the way for research. Shri Om Prakash Pandey,

author of the book, said the book had been written with the Vedic

belief that the truth is one but it can be presented in different

forms. Shri Ved Pratap Singh Vaidik, Dr Mahip Singh and Shri Arif

Mohammad Khan were among the distinguished people who were present

on the occasion.
