Guest guest
`Monarchy indispensable institution' RSS KATHMANDU, Dec. 18: Co-chairman of the Rastriya Janashakti Party Dr. Prakash Chandra Lohani has stressed the indispensability of the institution of monarchy in Nepal and said that no problems of the country could be resolved by isolating this institution. Speaking at the Face-to-Face interaction programme organised by the Reporters' Club Nepal here today, he underlined the need of unity between the pro-constitutional forces and warned that the country might go in the direction of disintegration and the sovereignty of the country might be in jeopardy if the institution of monarchy was weakened. He also said that all should contribute from their respective sides for resolving the conflict in the country. Stating that the political parties themselves had prompted His Majesty the King to use Article 127 of the Constitution, he said that the tendency among the political parties jostling for power has undermined the Constitution from time to time in the past. He opined that the Maoist insurgency has grown, as attempts to address the problems besetting the country by making timely changes in the Constitution were not made on time. He added that the people would not trust the political parties unless they give up such type of irresponsible style of working. "The decision to place the Royal Nepalese Army under the supervision of the United Nations as mentioned in the understanding said to have reached between the political parties and the Maoists is a grave mistake, and it is against the interest of the country and the people," he said. He also said that the entire Royal Nepalese Army should not be held accountable for the deed of a single soldier in the unfortunate incident that took place recently in Nagarkot. At the programme, CPN- UML leader Bam Dev Gautam said that the problems of the country would be resolved by spearheading a peaceful movement from within the country. http://www.gorkhapatra.org.np/pageloader.php? file=2005/12/19/topstories/main11
