Guest guest
Namaste Ji Trust everything is well at your end. We are pleased to advise that technical work for the 2006 World Vedic Calendar(Almanac/Panchang) is now complete and look forward to your support again this year. This calendar is based on siddhantic calendar updated and improved upon by Arya Bhatta some 2000 years ago. An actual Vedic calendar needs to be updated every 72 years in view of the precession of the earth. Therefore this calendar uses the Sayana system which is based on CURRENT positions of planets and stars. Its focus is on entire globe as is the Vedic principle. It also contain references to historical and astronomical events/festivals. This is the first calendar that gives the scientific explanation of the Indian festivals and relates the association of various seasonal cycles with the human biological cycle as described in the Vedas, Upveda and Vedangas. Scientific explanations of the following terms are also included: tithi, yugas, manvantaras, kalpas, sankrantis, Uttarayana, Dakshinayana, Devayana, Pitripaksha, Mahashivaratri, Panchaka periods, Kumbha melas etc. This calendar has both the Vedic and Christian formats for easy reference. Through them even a layman will also be able to get information of Indian Calendar following the dates and months of Christian calendar. Afterwards it gives a detatiled article on the origin and development of various Eras of the World followed by an exhaustive list of all the eras (new and old) of the world updated in correspondance with the Christian era of 2006. It gives articles on the Astronomical and Historical significance of some important festivals of India. It also provides some photos of Indian heroes. Lastly it gives the detailed description of constellations etc. for the benefit of interested persons. This calendar is printed in both Hindi and English (but not separately). Please let me know if you need more information and/or how you can obtain copies. Thanks & Best Regards Ashwini Kumar International Foundation For Vedic Science A non-profit charitable organization www.vedascience.com P.S. Please accept our apologies if you have already received this information.
Guest guest
There is a lot of confusion among people regarding vedic ad non vedic tings. For example the days of week, the zodiac , sakranti etc are purely non vedic while naksatra, tithi and lunar month are purely vedic. thanks
