Guest guest
George Harrison Concert and Memorial Service BY SANDAMINI DEVI DASI USA, Nov 12 (VNN) — On December 4th, our Iskcon temple here in Tucson, Arizona, will celebrate our 5th Annual Sriman George Harrison Memorial Service & Concert. George did so much to assist his beloved spiritual master in the spreading of Krishna consciousness around the world, that we try to show our humble appreciation every year with a festival in his honor during the Sunday Feast program. A local pop music group that plays only Beatles music, "the Magical Mystery Tour", as well as some American musician friends who do sitar and tabla music, offer their services by playing some of George's spiritual songs such as "All Things Must Pass", "Living In The Material World", "My Sweet Lord", etc., for at least an hour, then one of the devotees tells some of George's spiritual pastimes with Srila Prabhupada. Then everyone approaches a simple altar placed before the temple altar, with an assortment of pictures of George with his guru, Srila Prabhupada, and offers a candle, incense stick, and flowers, while everyone chants the maha mantra. Then we have a very joyous arotike and kirtan, and all the guests ecstatically dance and chant Hare Krishna. During the feast we play the video about George's spiritual life done by ITV, and we also have some on hand for sale. We advertise the festival both on local rock radio stations and in the newspapers, and it always draws a big and special crowd. Sriman George and his contribution to the Krishna consciousness Movement should not be forgotten, and it might be appropriate for the entire Movement to host such a festival and invite the public to celebrate the great chanting for love and peace and deliverance for the people of this age of Kali. (We always have the program around the date of his departure). All you need is love (Krishna). http://www.vnn.org/usa/US0511/US12-8865.html
