We are in search of peace and happiness. We can be truly happy only

if others too are happy. We are all inter-dependant. None can live

in isolation. The way for peace and happiness is to make others also

happy. Every one of us therefore has to be earnest and responsible.

 

Our basic necessaries are provided by Nature and the Society. The

former provides everything for our physical sustenance. The latter

takes care of our other needs. Being the recipients of both these

institutions, we owe them a debt of gratitude. We can repay it by

leading a harmonious family life, by being responsive to the

sufferings and needs of the lesser privileged ones, and by our

dedication to the well-being of the society.

 

We can serve the less fortunate ones with our body, mind and wealth.

If we cannot render any physical service or offer our wealth, we can

at least use our mind in the service of the Lord. We can constantly

remember Him by taking His Name more and more, with a sincere prayer

for World Peace. If this chanting of the Divine Name is done with

right earnest, we would become ideal devotees and ideal citizens.

 

In late 1970s, Anandashram initiated a "Naama Japa Yagna" for World

Peace. While setting the target of 15,500 crores, Pujya Mataji

Krishna Bai (1903-1989), one of Founder Saints of the Ashram (whom I

had the good fortune of meeting in 1977, to whom I owe everything in

my life, and to whom I am ever since devoted in thought word and

deed) made an earnest prayer that this Japa should exceed the target

and be continued with all love, devotion until peace and happiness

are established in the hearts of one and all.

 

If we follow the advice of the saints, we will never do anything

that is detrimental to the interest of Nature and the Society. We

would also become purer and purer in our heart, thereby achieving

the aim of human life which is Eternal Peace and Happiness.

 

Swami Muktanandaji of Anandashram has a personal Appeal to you in

this regard and it is presented below. He makes a humble request to

every member of your family to join in this "Naama Japa Yagna" by

chanting any Name of God at least 2000 times a day (may be, 1000 in

the morning and 1000 in the evening), thus contributing

substantially to World Peace and Happiness. Also, you may kindly

consider encouraging and enlisting as many families as possible to

participate in this sacred endeavour. The account of your monthly

Every human being in this world is in search of peace and happiness.

No ordinary man can live in isolation. We are all inter-dependant.

So, one can hope to enjoy peace and happiness only if others are

also happy. So the ideal way to achieve our aim – peace and

happiness – is to do everything possible to make others happy. It

means each individual has to be good and responsible.

 

Every one of us has certain basic needs. Who supplies them? It is

Mother Nature and the Society at large. Mother Nature provides the

air we breathe, the water we drink, the earth on which we exist, the

space in which we move around, the Sun, the Moon, the mountains,

trees and the like which are essential for our very existence.

 

The Society takes care of our other requirements like the food we

eat, the clothes we wear, educational institutions, various fields

of employment, communication, transport, medical, engineering, etc.

Being the recipients of the blessings of both these institutions, we

owe them a deep debt of gratitude. It would never be possible for us

to repay this debt in full. But we can do so, to some extent, by

leading a harmonious family life, by being a conscientious, loyal,

hard-working, service-oriented individual, by being responsive to

the sufferings/ demands of the lesser privileged ones in particular

and the well-being of the society in general.

 

Pujya Mataji Krishnabai of Anandashram, Kanhangad, Kerala,

says: "Devotees have to expand their vision by serving the entire

universe, which is His own form, with their body, mind and wealth.

Many may not be in a position to do physical service or to offer

their wealth. But all, without exception, can use their mind in

God's service, i.e. they can chant the Name of God more and more and

pray for world peace and thus put into practice Universal Service."

 

And In late 1970s, Pujya Mataji initiated a Nama Japa Yagna for

World Peace. If this Japa is done with the right perspective, one

would become an UTTAMA DEVOTEE and at the same time an UTTAMA

CITIZEN. While setting the target at 15500 crores, Pujya Mataji

said, "My earnest prayer is that the japa should exceed the target

and continue with all love, devotion and zeal until peace and

happiness is established on the earth and in the hearts of all." If

we follow Pujya Mataji's advice, we will never do anything that is

detrimental to the interest of Nature and Society.

 

Our humble request to every member of your family may join in this

Japa Yagna by chanting any Name of God at least 2000 times a day

(may be 1000 in the morning and 1000 in the evening), so that they

will be able to contribute substantially to VISHWA SHANTI - peace

and happiness to one and all on a sustaining basis. Simultaneously

we would all become purer and purer in our heart and almost

effortlessly achieve the aim of human life – eternal peace and

The purpose of this blogspot is to inform friends and well-wishers

of the Hindu Dharma about the happenings in India and elsewhere in

general and in Tamil Nadu in particular, in the

prevailing "secular", (read "anti-Hindu") atmosphere, where the
