Guest guest Posted October 29, 2005 Report Share Posted October 29, 2005 Travelling peace concert troupe in Far-West "Sundar Shanta Nepal" Travelling Peace Concert 2005 RSS KATHMANDU, Oct. 21: After three successful shows in Birtamode of Jhapa, Hetauda and Ghorahi, Dang, the "Sundar Shanta Nepal" Travelling Peace Concert 2005 team put up another impressive display at Dhangadi, Kailali today. Every singer and their songs received thunderous applause from the massive crowd of 20,000 men, women and children present at the Trinagar Secondary School ground today. There were a significant number of women and children who came to enjoy the musical show, a first of its kind held in this part of the Far Western Region. "It has been 7 to 8 years that the people in general have forgotten the taste of happiness and enthusiasm, and though for a brief moment this Peace Concert has given the people here a taste of such happiness," said Mohan Raj Bhatta, principal of the Higher Secondary School. The Peace Concert today kicked off in a very enthusiastic style with the popular Deuda singer Nanda Krishna Joshi warming up the audience while Swaroop/Satya Raj Acharya, Sapanashree, Jyoti Ghimire, Kunti Moktan, Om Bikram Bista along with Nepathya Band entertained the throng with their hit numbers. The show was concluded with the rendition of theme song—Sundar Yesai Chhandai Chha Nepal, Sandhai Shanta Rahos (Our country has always been beautiful and let it always be peaceful) sung collectively by all the singing artistes. The Peace Concert was also telecast live by local STS Cable TV. Trinagar Secondary School, Federation of Nepalese Journalists, Kailali Branch and local NGOs—Sarwangin Bikash Kendra and Sirjansheel Samaj Ko Srijana were local co-hosts of the Peace Concert. All proceeds from the ticket sales will be used to support the social initiatives taken by these organisations. Following Dhangadi, the Traveling Peace Concert will now travel to Tansen, Palpa (Oct. 24), Damauli, Tanahu (Oct. 26), Charikot (Oct. 28) and will have a grand finale at Bhaktapur Durbar Square in Bhaktapur on October 30.
