"You probably learned a bit about Christopher Columbus at school, but one

documented historical fact that you probably overlooked is that Columbus

believed his discovery of the New World was necessary to fulfil an ancient

prophecy".

This is dis-information of the first order.

The reality is:

Spain financed Columbus to find a sea route to the land of gold and spices- India.

Europe used to get gold, pepper and other spices from India via 'The Silk Route'

that passed thru' Constantinople in Turkey.

After the Islamists sacked it and made it Ankara, a desperate Europe was

supplied all the Indian pepper and spices they wanted by Portugal who found a

route to India around southern tip of Africa. And they kept it secret and

hogged all the profits.

Spain was under tremondous pressure to find an alternate route. Columbus had

heard that Magellan had proved the earth was a sphere. So he guessed that he

could keep sailing East for a long time he would reach India. He reached the

island he named Hispaniola and told his financier Queen Isabella that he had

reached India. And he called the natives Indian and the other Europeans who

came later continued to use the fraudulent name.
