Guest guest
Namaste Lenji, In Loving Ganesha it reads "During puja at the Madhaya Kailasa Temple in Chennai, devotees saw and continue to see Ganesha, the elephant God, and Hanuman, the monkey God, merging into one, as the alpha and omega of existence. To honor this unusual form, in 1993 a five-metal image, half Ganesha and half Hanuman, was created and enshrined. It all started with a series of early morning visions that graced devotees of the two unusual Gods in the great Hindu pantheon of 330 million." When I visited India a few years ago I was staying about 5 or 10 minutes away from this temple, yet at the time I didn't even know it existed! If only I knew then what I know now...LOL : ) Om Shanti Neil , kalipadma@j... wrote: > > Has anyone heard of the relationship between Ganapati and Hanuman? The elephant-god and the monkey-god are both tricksters, one a symbol of divine cleverness and the other a symbol of divine strength. Some argue that Ganapati is present at every beginning, and Hanuman present at every ending. I gather that there is an Ardha-Ganapati, Ardha-Hanuman deity, worshipped somewhere in India.
