Dear Everyone,

Thank you all for your helpfulness! :-)

MJ, what a beautiful altar! I am trying trying to think where to set up an

altar. Where I used to have my main altar is not available right now

because we have a long-term houseguest, and that nook back there is where

his airbed is now.

I had heard that it's good to have a small altar or something like near the

entrance to one's house. Is this good? I am probably going to have several

small things around the house.

I really don't know enough yet about the other Hindu deities to make a

decision about others to honour. I do like Parvati very much...

I have been trying to sort through how my practice of the Craft has been

over the last couple of years or so. Because of the above-mentioned

houseguest situation (I do love the person, so I don't regret his being

here), there has been practically no privacy for spellwork (we are in a

small apartment). So I have kind-of let things slide. When I have done

spells in the past, I always felt I should invite both the Goddess and the

God to my circle, sometimes specifying a particular deity, sometimes not,

according to the working and/or the season. But even though I am totally

comfortable with multiple deities, and the idea of balance of male and

female energy, I usually feel more drawn to one than the other, for some

reason.

Len said that Ganesh is very nice about "sharing". :-) We have had a

household protector, a dragon, here for several years. I don't know how

*he* will feel about sharing. Eep? I think the

altar-near-the-door-for-Ganesh will be separate from the altar that I now

have for our dragon-protector and for the Goddess (also in the living room).

Do gods and goddesses flow in and out of our lives as to importance to our

path? It has seemed like that sometimes to me in the past; but I hope that

Ganesh will always be here. I need some permanence. And he feels very solid

(some pun intended) and permanent and forever.

Question: where do you-all get the lovely Hindu prints and statues?

Oh boy, I think echoes of Christianity are going through my mind: the

picture I would really like to have on my main altar would be of Ganesh

with Shiva and Parvati. A holy trinity. Does this sound viable?

Okay, I need to do more reading, more looking around, and more waiting to

see what Ganesh has in store. :-)

I have a picture of Skanda that looks like Jesus that I got off the net ; if you

would like me to send it, I will. I think that your altar should face north.

print this one in colour, but, I think that in black and white it will look

nice also. You could perhaps add a bit of colour with watercolour. You can get

prints/pictures and statues over the net. ISKON has some and will send you a

brochure, and their pictures are nice and very cheap.

Dear Barbara,

Oh, oops, I think I was kinda vague there. When I meant a kind of

trinity, I meant Shiva (father), Parvati (mother), Ganesh (son)--more

like the holy family. I mis-spoke. :-P

Murugan looks quite nice, but I am kind-of not drawn to Jesus himself.

Anyway, at the moment, I am relating to Parvati as my Goddess, since she

is Ganesh's mother and he loves her so. :-)

What is ISKON? I tried to find it, but I think I was taken to some

Croation sites.

Skanda is another son of Parvati and Shiva. Ganesh is their other son.

ISKON is the name of the Hari Krishna Movement, and they have catalogues. Their

and abroad is 713 290 8720. They sell Ganesh items and. also, scents, tapes,
