Death of Shri Khem Singh- for 64 days he did not eat, and in the most advanced

of States, California, no one bothered to see why? Or arrange an interpreter,

or even tube feed him. The 72 year old was once the Head Priest of Local

Gurudwara in Ceres near Modesto. He was given life sentence for ALLEGEDLY

inappropriately touching 3 children. He did not know English, could not make a

written request for vegetarian meal! One of the other excuse is that he did not

officially declare hunger strike! Every time he went for meals, they tried to

force him to eat meat. He weighed 86 pounds. It is also possible that he got a

public defender, who just did what they do. Since he did not plead guilty to a

lesser sentence, 3 strike you are out was applied to him. Had he been one of

the 3000 odd christian priests, who molested children, he probably would have

been alive and free.The point I am making is that

among all this talk of Indo-US, USINPAC, India Shining- if the community does

not have enough networking and organization to avoid such incidents, then all

that is just hogwash. Except for military necissity, we need to focus on making

sure such gross violations do not occur inside or outside India. Anyway this was

just for your notice. Such issues need to be brought to our notice, as soon as

possible in this age of Internet it is no big deal. IT is about time some of

the bright Indian Attorneys organized some sort of forum to help such people.

I was wondering where this came from originally. I tried to document the

veracity of it and failed so far on the web at least. Anyone have an idea if

it is confirmed to be a true story?
