Guest guest
Namaste James, Stringing a mala and tying knots can actually be therapeutic Great to hear you oil your beads regularly and that they're in fine condition. A lot of folks who wear rudraksha japa malas to bed actually experience them breaking or the thread snapping off more often. Would you believe whenever a mala snaps, it actually removes some form of negativity or malefic energy and prevented these from happening? They're highly protective beads especially when used with mantra. The power of a mala is stored in the Meru bead. Although in the Scriptures it is mentioned (Shiva Purana for one) that rudrksha tend to be more powerful when worn on the wrist, it is not possible to wear bulky beads round the wrist as we all bang about with our hands most of the time Wouldn't want to damage the high mukhi beads if they're worn. thanks and bless you for sharing your experience with Lord Ganesha's bestowing His Darshan and blessings upon you! So its indeed auspicious when your mala broke. Usually that is a kind of 'signpost' for, be it spiritual or mundane pursuits, etc. James, bless you for your humility and sincerity. Indeed you'd been blessed by Shri Ganesha hence you were moved to tears and subsequently had the best sleep in yonks. I know its kinda hard to explain these things. Unless one has experienced similar states, it difficult to comprehend when another relates his/her experience. There's a very old post of mine from way back about how my altar was on fire with flames up to the ceiling...... My eyes were still shut and I was still (didn't realise a thing). Next I know was my hubby hopping about and yelling about smoke, blah.. We got a couple of buckets and put out the flames. When I examined the altar, nothing was burnt though the corners of the wood were blackened. And the framed picture murti of Lord Ganesha was untouched. Next saw a few sets of feet in white dhotis dashing about (unreal; ethereal). Then one of the bathroom lights that couldn't be fixed by electricians for some years, turned itself on and has remained in good working condition ever since. James, imvho your experience cannot be dimissed as a small step in a long journey. Though all journeys are long, it was a big step forward. You've gone far beyond many of us in your devotion. Again imvho, whenever we feel drawn towards to certain Gods/desses, it might be because of preceeding births when we were devotees. During this existence, we are further performing bhakti that we couldn't complete previously. Hope I make sense Most souls born into rebirths, cannot recall their past lives but memories of these eventually come back into our consciousness by way of spiritual pursuits and things that occur around us. Choofing off for now, back again when I can. And Heartiest Congratulations James! May your devotion to Shri Ganapati bring 1000-fold blessings from His Auspicious Presence in your life. I need a bigger wrist(haha). I just had one of my first encounters with Ganesh the day before they broke. I was sitting in the lotus position( ok ,half lotus.I have fat legs) staring up into the eyes of my brass Ganapati statue as I repeated in my head > Om Gam Ganapatae Namaha" By the end of the mala I was ecstatic and for some reason brought almost to tears. The way I felt after could best be quoted from the Tao Tejing " I am like an idiot. My expresion like a newborn before it has learned to smile." > I then layed down and slept better than I can remember in a long time. Im not bragging. > Just sharing. Im sure that was just a tiny step on a long journey for me. > > Thank you and all who have helped me via the net,James > > syzenith <syzenith> wrote: > Namaste James, > > Sorry to hear the thread on your rudraksha mala broke.
