Guest guest
I think it is fair to compare the mysteries of the Puranas to taht pf the Parables in the Bible, and I mention this for the sake of some with Judeo- Christian background. Both "myths" and "parables" represented in those respective scriptures are often painted in very simplistic stories,to paint a much larger picture taht would in turn, show humanity a tiny slice of Godhead, who is himself limitless for our finite human intellect. The story of lord ganapati's origin should not be taken for it's face value only.. Lord Ganapati is God, he is never created and never will he ever be destroyed, but in this purana.. it is to illustrate the essential participation and relationship between the male/Shiva and female/ Parvati aspect of Godhood.. When Lord shiva walked into the Paravati's bath without first seeking her permission, he violated Parvati's need for privacy .. and this situation can be likened to that of a careless devotee approaching the murthy in the temple without the priest's assistance.. and when paravti created ganapati, she in turn violated the cosmic rule in which male and female energies are needed for creation.. and by placing Ganapati to guard the door (this is also the reason why we invoke Lord ganapati first before anyone else, as he is always "guarding" and removing obstacles for us) the without first informing Lord Shiva, it was her way to "punish" Lord Shiva - something of passive aggressive .. and when Lord Shiva gave Lord Ganapati a new head.. it is thus balanced.. Lord Shiva participated in the birth of Lord Ganapati, Goddess Parvati is appeased and Lord Shiva is glorified through his wisdom .. I hope this will help.. ciao --- In , "nhraddude71" <nhraddude71> wrote:> I used to think I had it all figured out when I was > just a taoist with buddhist tendencies. Guest guest
ThankYou, As I mentioned before Im ignorant to a lot of things. Itry to make sense of a lot of things on my own and I dont always hit the nail on the head. Th Reason I compared Sri Ganesh with Christ is because Christianity was my first teaching. It is just very hard as an adult to accept the fact that one mans death will wash away my sins as long as I believe in him. I feal responsible for the weight of my own actions and thoughts. I feal it is my responsibility to train my mind and realize my true self rather than just thinking that my baptism is a free ticket to paradise. Christ was a great man but left to many loop holes and cryptic messages. There is not enogh information on how to find him within yourself such as what the teachings of the Buddhas before him. Thank you for interpreting the story of the birth of Ganesh. My western mind wanted to seperate the father mother and son as individuals instead of being one. I feal kind of stupid like I should have seen this all along. I gues thats what happens when one of the ten commandments in the old testament is" I am the lord thy God ,thow shalt not have false gods before me". Then they throw in the hole trinity as one deal and the whole thing gets confusing. One more thing. If one worships Ganes is ther a need to worship other gods or Gana if they are all present within ganesh anyway? Thanks for the wisdom,Jamestangchikhay <tangchikhay (AT) (DOT) es> wrote: I think it is fair to compare the mysteries of the Puranas to taht pf the Parables in the Bible, and I mention this for the sake of some with Judeo- Christian background.
