Kesari was a Vanar-king, as such he is called Vanar-Raj. He had no child, hence his wife Anjana, observed self-mortification to have a child, she menaced herself, worshipping Lord Shiva to be booned for a son. Lord Shiva fulfilled her desire and He himself took birth in the form of her son Shri Hanuman. The God of winds, Pawan Dev also blessed Anjana to have a great son unparalleled in strength and wisdom.
