connection with Maha Shivarathri 2006

"Yagnaanaam Japa Yagnosmi", said the Lord in the Bhagavad Gita. Literally

translated, it means, "I am Japa Yagna among Yagnaas". Yagna is a heavy ritual

with a lot of strict regulations to be followed. However, the above saying

signifies the importance of Japa Yagna, which does not mandate anything other

than devotion to chant the Lord's name.

 

By the grace of our Sadguru Sri Sri Swamiji, we could celebrate the Pradhaana

Anaghashtami, the New Year special Satya Narayana Vratam and active

participation of Bala Datta in TFAS Sankranthi (Telugu Fine Arts Society of NJ),

....with immense devotion and in great grandeur. Apart from the enthusiastic

participation by devout public, the events have displayed the tremendous amount

of teamwork that could lead to memorable success of such events.

 

By the grace of His Holiness, DYCNJ plans to celebrate Maha Shivarathri 2006

with regular religious fervor and great devotion . In this connection, it is

blessed by Sri Sri Swamiji that all the devotees in USA and Canada participate

in the Parama Shiva Panchaakshari Japa Yagnam for universal peace and

brotherhood. Everyone can participate in this Maha Yagnam without any bar on

crede, religion, gender or age. This will be taken up as a Mandala Deeksha ( a

40 day Deeksha), to be concluded by Maha Shivaratri Festival. The primary part

of this Yagna will be for all of us together to chant the Mantra ("Om Namah

Shivaya") 1.1 Million times - yes - 1100,000 times - as the number 11 is very

dear to Lord Rudra.

 

Everyone of us chanting this Mantra atleast for 10 minutes everyday starting

today will easily make this successful. The Yagna will culminate in the Maha

Linga Archana proposed to be performed on the Maha Shiva Ratri day (26th Feb

2006) in New Jersey. Please expect a separate mailer on the detailed program

proposed for the Maha Shiva Ratri Day.

 

If we start the chant today, we will be able to conclude the Mandala Deeksha

by the day before Maha Shiva Ratri (25th Feb 06). Alternatively, if you choose

to start the chanting tomorrow - the Mandala Deeksha will conclude on the day of

Shiva Ratri. The count of the chanting is expected to be reported evey week. All

of us will report the count to the count co-ordinator, Bindu Lanka, on a weekly

basis, every Thursday starting 25th Jan 06. (viz., 1/25, 2/2,2/9,2/16,2/23 and

finally on the day of Shiva Ratri - 2/26 latest by 1100AM EST). You can either

call Bindu at 732-274-9226 to report your count, or simply send an email to

JapaYagna with the count information. Please don't mind the reminder

emails for your individual counts from the co-ordinator, as needed.

 

One can chant this Mantra with devotion and without any bar on time or place.

Please make sure that we chant with utmost love for the Lord and keep the count

so that we are on target for completing the naama Japa Yagna. The merit of this

Japa Yagna will be offer to the Lord in the Maha Linga Archana to be performed

on the Maha Shiva Raatri day.

 

First time you start the chant of the Mantra, do the Sankalpam. Then continue

to chant anytime that is convenient to you either individually or in a group.

 

If you cannot chant the following Sankalpam, you can mentally pray to Sri

Swamiji and start the Japa Yagna.

 

May all of us join this Viswa Shanti Maha Yagna and beget the blessigns of

Parama Shiva Swarupa Sri Sri Sri Swamiji.
