Guest guest
Jai Guru Datta. During recent Navaratri celebrations HH Sri Swamiji composed many bhajans. Out of them one is Godess GAYATRI Mata. I am trying to understand the textual and figuritive meaning of this bhajan. I could not easily get any finding. I very humbly seek the blessings of scholars to kindly explain the meaning of this Bhajan. That will be of great help. Even if simple meaning of the whole Bhajan as an english paragraph would help. /// Th Bhajan is : "NAMAMI VEDA MAATARAM BHAJAAMI CHITSUKHAM PARAM". This bhajan is uploaded on Dattapeetham.com website and can be found on October7th 2005, Friday celebration for Deity "Meenakshi". /// But for these qustions I could follow the rest of the meaning of the Bhajan completely. (Q1) ===== What is the meaning(figuritive) i.e. significance of the first line: "TRAYEE TRAYAARDHA SAARA BHHOTA PATRAYEE VIRAAJITAA"? what are the 3 elements mentione here? Are the 3 vyahritis:Bhooh, Bhuvah, Suvaha---referred here or any thing else? Mor over what is the significanc of the 2 different times repeate words (TRAYEE Traya+ardha)? Are these two different triplets referred to or both are explaining the same triplet? Then what is "Patryee Viraajitaa"? What are the "Patra" referred here? [Note: I also heared in the audio the word "Bhadrayee" in place of "Patrayee". I am a bit confused as to which is the correct word as originally composed by HH Sri Swamiji. Since in script uploaded it is mentiond "Patrayee"...I think that might be the correct one.] Q2 === What is the meaning of the word:"VivruNvatee"? Does it mean "explained" (vivarNa, Vyaakhyaanam)? Q3 === what is meant by: "Manurhi"? Does it mean -- in my mind/thinking (Godess Gaayatri is nothing else but my own self/Aatman) Q4 == In the second Stanza,2nd line last word.... is it "Viraajitaa" or "Viraajikaa"? I am trying to sing this Bhajan in my min numerous times how ever many times I can when ever I remember about it.....and hence I do not want to be singing wrong.... Hence I am beseeching with utmost sincerity....to kindly explain the meaning. Is there any Dattapeetham book etc. which has meaning of this specific Bhajan? I once again request humbly if any one who knows the correct meaning of these words could share with us....that will be a great help. May Lord Datta bless us all. Guest guest
Jai Guru Datta. your help gave me immense joy and happiness. My heart is full with happiness after following the meaning....that I have been searching for long! This is a great help. Now I can get the doubled joy when ever I sing this Bhajan. I did not even know that "Bhajana Yogamu-Vivrti, part 2" existed. Thanks for the information. May Sri Swamiji bless us all. Sri Guru Datta. Raveendra Hira Duvvuri <hiraduvvuri wrote: Jaya Guru Datta In Bhajana Yogamu-Vivrti, part 2, on pages 281-282 the meaning is given for this song. I will try to translate into English to the best of my ability. I am no scholar. Please forgive me if my feeble attempt is not satisfactory. The lyrics are also given in the English Bhajana Mala IV. The praise rendered to Sri Gayatri Devi by the celestial beings: Pallavi: Namaami veda maataram bhajaami chitsukham param. By prostrating to the Mother of the Vedas and praising her, may we obtain the supreme bliss of Consciousness. Charanam: Trayee trayaartha saara bhoota pattrayee viraajitaa Pavitra dhee prachodane lasat prabhaava bhaasuraa Sadaatmano rabhedameva tatvato vivrnvatee Manurhi Gaayatrikaa yadaatmikaiva taam She is glorified by having the essence of the three Vedas as her three feet; She is famous for her capacity for powerful stimulation of intellects in a sacred way; She explains the unity of Jiva and Brahma to worthy souls; such a Gayatri mantra is essentially the form of the Mother Goddess - Pancha seersha bhaasuraa - sarvato mukhaa paraa Pancha yugma baahukaa - drk trayee viraaji kaa Brahma vaktra vaasinee - Braahmanaasya gaaminee Sachidananda vinuta Gaa - yatrikaa cha yaiva taam She is resplendant with five heads, this supreme Mother faces in all directions, She has ten hands (five pairs), She is endowed with three eyes in each face, She dwells in the faces of Brahma, She proceeds from the mouths of Brahmins, She is renowned for being Sat-Chit-Ananda, Such a Gayatri Devi is essentially the form taken by the Mother Goddess.
